Lol. Soon.. very soon.

still having problems germing at the moment. got all used to cloning and rollin em out, now i gotta be super delicate with these beans again.
I'll get it worked out, just a minor setback.. Im thinking by the end of the week they'll either
#1] pop or
#2] I will have to wait and order some more fem beans
#3] take a chance and pop some of my regular "selene" or "chemistry" beans. I just hate chopping those damn males. id rather pheno hunt for Selene while growing out some Fem if ya know what i mean, Vern

Hey Hornet..

Looks like a good set up, but the air pump on the floor is not good if power goes off. It might siphon water back to your air pump and damage it. Just a heads up..

Thanks man! You're totally right about the air pump, thanks for the heads up. I need to get some bricks or something for them to sit on, I've just been lazy.
Still haven't changed the carbon out on my filter since last time either, lol. Its so raggedy looking, poor things just barely hangin on!
I painted my buckets with some appliance epoxy thinking it would keep water temps down a little, and less light for root growth, but i dont think my seedlings liked the fumes very much. actually, i didnt care too much for them either. BUT they look nicer, and i might do another coat in a couple of weeks when they are bigger. Then, who knows? I might go back over them with some cowboys logos... already got my control bucket reppin.

looks like you are going to have a lot plants, I like that set up. nitro is right you def need the pump above the water level, even if you have backflow attachment. +rep man.

plants have continued to decline in vigor and overall health since they first sprouted, so i figured id drain the system and take a closer look.
i found some pinkish and brownish growth on the insides, so i cleaned them out with some glass cleaner (ammonia based) and wiped them down good.
i refilled the system at a lower ppm and am waiting to see if anything will change. i also set my chiller @ 55 deg F in an attempt to prevent the algae growth from gaining a foothold again.

You need those new plants up under 1 light . Get some size to them before putting them into your system.

Definitely should take that bit of advice from savana. I'd restart with new seeds dude, it'll be faster and have a better chance of surviving than what you have now.

Not to sound like a dick dude, but have you done this before?

you definitely want bigger plants before putting them into your flowering system. This is why i dont use those netpot/lids. Ill use a 6" netpot cut into a 5" hole in the bucket lid. Now i can fit 4 or 5 per rubbermaid tote until they're big enough for a flowering room. You're gonna burn through so much wasted nutes in a big system like that, plus the poor girls are stretching like a muthafuk.

Good job on the system though, bet it was fun to build! Just do some research on growing now, and you'll get what we're saying.
Good luck!

Maybe next round you should try coco for starting the seeds and using that instead of hydroton, which is so unforgiving with seeds. Also, starting the veg in a dwc tote until they're 6"-9" and then put into uc is a good idea. Plants are looking better, but I would start more to either replace, add to, or perpetuate your garden.

It seems like massive recirc pipes are a recipe for root rot. I hope you prove me wrong.

Your probably gonna want some sort of auto top-off setup, cause they are gonna drink a lot of water.

hey dude when i done my beans in RDWC (which i hate btw) i much prefer to grow from cut but i simply put them into this 60L tote with 4 holes cut in them afte i sprouted the beans in a 2" rockwool cube and they had roots just gently cover them in hydroton in ur finishing sized net pot and get them all in the same tub with a air stone and some drippers on a tiny pump like so had it come on 1ce a day for 15 mins til they were bigger then when they had decent roots they went into the bigger system like ur in now mate..........

if we do it in stages the plant is never shocked try it on next run mate ul see the difference all the best with this grow , if in doubt ask tho thats what these places are for mate

thanks for the kind words everyone.

sqydro those colas are awesome. are you supplementing HID with LED? best of both worlds..

i will definitely be designing a couple of totes for veg in the future. i have a 10 site system so i'll probably end up using two 5-site totes for veg - one under each T5 panel (when i get another one). right now i only have one t5 panel that im using for vegging my mothers next round.
once the pheno hunt is over, im going to run 2 different strains on my two different rows - and i can just take cuts and put directly into veg without bothering with mothers.

top off system is next on my list Jiji - right below keeping my plants alive, lol. i hope i prove you wrong about the root rot, too! wont know for certain until its all said n done.

Jo-siz; thanks man. as always, your input keeps me alive. still waiting on my new beans from the NL, its been 2 days under a month and im getting antsy.

My only question in reference to vegging in totes is.. once the roots grow through the net pot, how the hell am i going to take them out of the net pot? are you just setting them down (veg net pot and all) into the flower system net pots? getting the ladies out of their comfortable veg pots and into the UC seems like suicide
