I've heard both that you can leave the seed in water after it sinks and that you shouldn't but instead pull it out immediately because it'll drown (can't say I believe this one) . . . what are your thoughts

Somebody the other day said he leaves his soaking for 48 hrs, another said he leaves in water until the tail pops, but most I read just do 24 hrs.
I usually don't even soak mine, but I had a few from a questionable source, so I started soaking, but I just do overnight, and if I can shake the bottle and it will sink, I pull it and drop it in my soil.

the seed was floating on top this morning and my friend submerged it. Will that pose a possible issue?

I've never soaked my seeds. I just pop them in a solo cup of soil and mist and throw a plastic cap over it and wait. Germination usually happens within 48 hours.

Nah, that's fine.
Like I say, I never used to even soak at all.
