Which growing factor is most important?

I just finished my first grow and noticed my plants suffered from a combination of factors. It started with a lack of nutrients and then improper heat environment.

From the experienced growers which factor contributes most to the growth of your plants?

I'm not going to tell you which one is the most important because that sounds like a strange question, so I'm going to pretend you asked "What factor has the biggest effect on growth/yield?"

And my answer is light, followed by nutrition, followed up by environment.

Edit: Genetics are super important too...so put that before light.

Why do you say light?

Is it related to the amount of energy the lights put out?

There are 4 things. You can't just pick 1!

1. Genetics
2. Rich soil
3. Good light source
4. Pot size
good post.....but should be 5, 'environment'............they ALL rely on each other.......if any one of them is bad, you're gonna struggle

EDIT........and in no order, get those 5 'right', you shouldn't go wrong, unless you 'tinker'......now that's lethal

I think you could bring it down to environment or nutrients... if you had to make a choice which would you choose to be right in your grow???

Yeah I always forget about environment for indoor growers. I'm sooo dependant on mother nature ....
I'm the opposite........I forget about outdoor growers.............I dream of being able to grow outdoors, sadly, laws and my location don't allow it. I could do a guerrilla grow, but it'd defo get found, I've walked my dog miles looking for locations, he's fit as a fiddle now, but no good locations. lol

Hands down Environment, as you can already see most will disagree 8)
Hahaha, I do disagree, no disrespect, not with Environment, it's crucial! there's no 'most' important. What's the point growing hemp in a great environment with the best nutes? What's the point growing known dank with great nutes under a 25w cfl? etc, etc, etc,......not arguing, but I think it's a balance of all these factors

Environment is easy to do but getting nutrients right much harder. So many with perfect environments still struggle with nutrients from start to finish.

For me it wasnt what was most important but what was most time consuming, if i had one wish as a new grower either pro at environment or pro at nutrients and fertilizing then id pick the latter as i know it would have saved me the most time and heartache :-)

Got it. So which form of light is the best when it comes to Photosynthesis?
The Sun would be the best light source. Cool thing too it is free!

If you're growing indoors it's a personal preference. I've done a high wattage CFL and honestly think I could grow a great plant under my single 125W CFL if I could scrog out an even enough canopy on a short flowering plant. Right now I'm using a 250 Watt MH/HPS in combination with said CFL for seedlings. The HID lights make a HUGE difference but they are super hot so ventilation is a must unless you live somewhere uber cold. LEDs and COBs are becoming real popular right now especially the later. There are a lot of DIY for COBs and multiple reports of people getting similar results to HPS of the same wattage. Knowing this I would examine every type of light further and see which one fits the needs of your grow area. I'm happy there are so many choices.

And I would suggest that a balance of factors is what makes up the environment. I could write a whole dissertation on this subject,,,, wait I already have 8)
