What would you do???

ok here is my situation,I have to keep my grow under 20 plants at any given time. I have a room that is 5x14x6. I have two 400w hps lamps with bulbs and also mh conversion bulbs. I want max yield in minimum time with as little risk as possible. So should I split room in half so I have two rooms that are 5x7x6 and have 1 for veg and 1 for flower and make it so i can harvest 6 plants each month using SCROG, which means each plant will have 1 month veg time and 2 months flower. Or should I grow 20 plants in one big room using both lamps and veg for a long time like 2 months and then flower and get yield? What do you think would produce more bud in a 6-8 month time frame and what do you think my yield would be like in either situation?

Also some more info...
I am doing a soil grow/ if i go for big room it will be 5 gal pots/ if i go 2 small rooms it will be 2 gal pots

I am using fox farm nutes, open sesame, beastie blooms, and cha ching

strains will be blue mystic, wonder woman, and aurora indica

also as far as smell goes for either setup i would be using a 400cfm inline fan with a phat carbon filter that is rated for 375 cfm, along with that i was going to use a small ozone gen. outside of room//// think that would handle all smell issues for either setup or no???

I know i got alot of mixed questions here lol, just want to get most out of my area with least amount of time and risk. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Are you picking up cuttings, seeds, or keeping your own mothers to supply cuttings? - ask because you have a plant limit you wish to stay under. - can give you an option with that info.

I am starting from seed, but if i were to do 2 rooms i would keep 2 mother plants and use all clones which would be about six clones per month for flower.//// I never grew these strains before but I am a somewhat experienced grower/ i have 3 successful grows with white widow white rhino and blueberry. From what I read about these strains they seem pretty easy to grow and put out a good yield in 7-9 weeks in flower. But you let me know what you think

Alright. - would say you will probably get about .35-.4grams/watt. So 800 x .35 = 280 grams. So about 10-11 ounces per round. With mistakes, like not timing the scrog just right, buggers, etc, it could be less. - have never done scrog, but - do tomato cages/LST with 1 foot tall C99 plants that - think, most likely, compare in yield. After you get the feel of your plants, and the scrog method, you could get higher yields for sure. Hopefully someone more experienced with the scrog method comes around to give you their opinion.

As to the room. - would say 5x7 is more than enough room to flower with two 400s. Plant count really doesnt matter as much as your canopy space and lights. 2 400s are only going to cover about a 2.5x5 area well. You could stretch it to 3x6 if you wanted.

Given that, unless you were going to add lights,- would say only half the room is needed to flower.

- would say to maximize your yields in your 6-8 month time frame... ditch the scrog idea. Put your two 400s on one side over a 2.5x5.5 or so. On the other side do your veg. Use cheapo T8 4 foot 2 bulb lights from Lowes for your veg. Try to time your cloning and vegging just right, so you have new plants ready to move to the flower room as soon as you get it emptied and cleaned out.

The scrog doesnt seem like a good method to use when you are looking to get large yields in short time. Unless you could build a screen setup for the plants to grow in to that can be moved from your veg to your flower room intact., (Which - have thought about before) growing scrog is just going to eat up valuable time under your flowering lights while you fill up your screen. imo.

- would say keep 2 mothers. 8 in flower. 10 in veg, at all times. When you go to move the veg to the flower, just toss out your two weakest plants.

It is always tempting to cram a ton of plants under a light, but - have learned that it really just makes for a headache. - would probably do 6 or 7 under 800 watts.

20 plants under 800 watt scrog sounds like a mess.

- might have misunderstood some of your info. - am not sure if you are saying you must setup and tear down inside of an 8 month window. If so, you will want to stick to a schedule over those months. When you have a date you have to tear down by, being just a week behind schedule mean immature buds or one less harvest.

- hope something in there was helpful. (even though - didnt really answer your question) Or at least this bump attracts a more seasoned grower who is scrog experienced.

Let - know what you go with. Or if - can help.

I think you can harvest 8-16 oz per month with fewer than 20 plants. You will need only a small veg space ( about 2' x 4') and another fluorescent light for veg.

6 in veg, 6 in early flower, 6 in late flower.
If you want to be under 20 you only have 1 more spot so it would have to be a mother.
That means you only have a month to clone and veg.

If you use seeds, you will have to use female seeds

There are a lot of ways to do it but this has worked for me. Average 2oz per plant or 12 oz per month.
:peace:

Edit: I didn't address this question, "Or should I grow 20 plants in one big room using both lamps and veg for a long time like 2 months and then flower and get yield?"
I believe 20 plant in 5 gal pots is too much for 2- 400w lights and you will not be happy with the results.
