What is this?

If it's in a pot I would get rid of it. If it's in the ground I would at let it grow a couple of true leaves and find out what it is. Definitely not grass though. Did you put compost down there? I can't put my finger on it but it looks kinda like some of the veggies I grew this year in the seedling stage.

Taking up root space? no thanks.
That's why I would take it out if it's a pot. Outdoors your roots will have plenty of space, and will be fighting other roots regardless. Either way I don't see how a day or two will make any difference.
Anyway, do what you want.

Should I take it out and put it in a pot of it's own? I first thought it was weed, but I only put one seed in. Is it possible for something to just sprout up a whole month after planting an auto? It's making me mental!

Ahh, a pot. Yeah take it out. Up to you if you want to put it in a pot of it's own till you figure out what it is. That's the kind of thing I do.

Its not marijuana and its not uncommon for other plants to seed your soil either from its manufacture or blown in on the wind etc :-)

It is definitely weed. I transplanted into it's own pot. The only thing I think might of happened is a seed I planted but did not sprout and I planted a germinated one in the same pot. So weird. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Ya, it looks like it has the same leaf pattern as weed. I was gonna ask if it could be a seed you planted earlier, but you said you only put one seed in there. Glad to hear you have an extra plant you weren't counting on.

Lol, Awesome. I'm always planting seeds to see if they grow, especially if I don't know what they are. It's fun to find out. Found a seed once and it turned out to be tobacco, nicotiana rustica. My brother dropped it when he was over. Now he has a bunch of plants.
I never kill a plant unless I know what it is, never know what you'll find.

IMG_2611.JPG This would be my guess, but until a real leaf is formed, it's just a guess. In this case, mine turned out to be an elm. I'm not sure which variety, could be invasive siberian or american elm. I also ended up with a grape vine, two oaks and a walnut from the squirrels burying stuff in my garden.
