Using Comp. Fan to Uxhaust Thru a carbon scrubber

I am looking to grow a total of two plants in a space roughly 2' w x 3' h x 1' deep. I will be using a passive intake with a light trap and a computer fan for the exhaust. I am not limited by space but I think in some way in my head the smaller the box the smaller the crime. Call me crazy but, thats the way I think I am looking at it.

On to the question. I will be making a small say 3.5" or 4" carbon scrubber from the below listed plans and I am not sure the cfm rating on the comp. fan but I simply cant see that little fan pushing enough to get through the carbon scrubber and work as an effective scrubber or a exhaust for that matter. What do y'all think.

Question 2 I know I hear the fan on my pc kicking on and off all day and night and I am one who leaves their comp. on for years at a time so, the question here is can I safely run a computer fan on a 12v power supply from a laptop for months on end without concern. The point here is the "room" will be in the attic and the last thing I want to wake up to is a fire. BTW there will be a smoke alarm but I am not here 24/7 and I am looking for peace of mind here.

a decent pc fan will do that area just fine.

make sure your adapter is 12VDC output. your fan should require 12VDC to operate properly, and you wont burn your house down.

I found the computer fan too weak to push through the charcoal. I got a 4" inline fan from the depot for about $20 and it worked great. I've doing a 2X2X6 stealth closet.

420- yes. That was Ok with me, since I wanted to hang the whole thing off to the outside. Any type of lamp cord/plug.

The comp fan i use is a tornado 80mm 83 cfm, this extracts tons of air even tho its small, i use a carbon filter with it. Mines wire up to an old fone charger. Hope that helps

lol... I'm gonna post here too...

What I see wrong with those plans is it asks for activated carbon, You want to use highly activated carbon stuff you get at a hardware store not the stuff you buy at a fish store.

Activated carbon works fine for filtering water, but highly activated carbon is far more porous and works a lot better at air filtering.
