Ok i just got a BC Northern Lights mother ship and have 4 clones of big buddah blue cheese in there. They all have pretty good space to grow and about 3 feet in height. I just want to know the best way to maximize my yeild. Should i tie them down and let all the other nodes grow up to become a cannopy or should i top the plant and get 2 or 4 main shoots going. Any advice would be helpful my plants are about 1 week into veg and i plan on starting to flower them in 1-2 more vegs of veg they are about 6 inches tall right now

If you have straight up lateral room only and no horizontal I would top
If you have the horizontal room I would bend i find it doesn't stress my plants as much as topping does.

Ok thanks for the info ya i got anout 3 feet to grow upwards and as you can see in the picture i got a decent amount of room between plants so i think i will just try to bend. Does that look like i have enough room in the picture to bend them?

Just be careful with both methods. Topping stunts growth for about a week and drives you crazy when you don't see any growth happening right away. Bending Tie Down can cause a break in the stem. You have to almost start from germination to keep things trained as the stems get hard and tough real quick in DWC if you do it right.

If you do break the stem I find it best that you wrap the break with a small amount, "but enough" toilet paper. You wrap it around DRY to fit over the break of the stem and then spray the wrapped dry toilet paper with tap water and soak it and mold it. As it hardens it will create a cast over the break and the plants will still grow. The cast will fall off in the future as the plant grows. This works well for 50% breaks in the stem meaning just a crack in the main stem and 100% break offs. Anyway it's a tip in case you go the tie down route and something breaks. GL

How about both? Top them, then when those arms grow out then tie them all down to open the inside. I'm doing this with my power kush right now and she is loving it. She is only a month old i topped her after the second true node. Lets just say she will be a 4 armed fattie... :). She is a little over a foot wide and about 10 inches tall with four main branches. Hope this helps.

Thanks alot for the advice i am thinking i am going to just tie down and not cut into the plant at all. I will only be vegging for about 2 weeks since the mothership (grow box i have) is about 3 feet tall and they say vegging over 2 weeks the plants will get to big. So i have started bending just by hand so far and when they get a little bigger sometime this week i will tie them down

Wat up new around here but not new to growin. There is never a need to top a plant better faster results cum from lsting. I don't know what madman invented topping but its just nuts. Cutting the main stem its crazy.
