Transplant advice

Started these seedling late January and transplanted from solos to 1 gallon pots 3 weeks ago.. Starting to see some roots poking through the bottom drain holes in some of the plants now. They are in a greenhouse on a 20/4 supplemental lighting program... I plant on slowly dialing that time back as I get closer to removing the T5's and planting in 30 gallon root pots sometime after May 15th.
Question is.. Seeing as I have 2 months until I go into the big boy pots in May...I'm going to need repot into larger pots. I can get a great deal on 3 gallon nursery pots for .35 a pot.. But I can't seem to find 5 gallon pots for less than $1.00 a pot.
Will a 3 gallon pot hold me over until May?

You can certainly keep them in that 3gal ,, do some root pruning whe you transplant
It works great to free up the roots,, it feels wrong cutting some of your roots but it is actualy really good for them when they get rootbound,, youl have no problem , it doesnt even stunt them in my experience

Looks into plastic grow bags. Cheap. Cut down the sides of them for easy transplant.

If you dont have room for 5gal for all of them just leave them in 3gals and root prune before transplant,, youl find a lot of grower will give you advice on how to get "flawless plants witch is great and friendly but few take into consideration your personal situation, ,
So in this case you can go a couple ways about it, dont feel obligated to do anything that might hinder you

Dude plastic bag pots you can go right up to 40/50L and they still won`t cost over $1 a pot plus when you want to transfer you can just cut the pot to get the plant out and 1000`s of them fold up and go in the post

I would probably go with the 5 gallon tell you the truth. Your already root bound in the one gallon. 2 gallons of soil doesn't seem nearly enough to hold off some outdoor plants for another two months.

I got lazy last year on transplanting a couple girls from 3 gallons to there new home and they were root bound for a while and really stunted growth.
