SOG Help Please

Hello ,
I am doing my 1st Sea of Green grow. I have built a 3'x3'x5' compartment in my grow room.
I have a 400HPS , 2'x2' Botanicare flood tray , reservoir is under compartment (not counted in 5' height).
I have about 16 clones going , about 6" tall in rockwool cubes. I am using hydroton medium and have 6"x6"x9" square pots for
the flood and drain hydro. I have about 28" of grow room for the plants between tray and light.
I can fit about 12 - 14 square pots.
The clones are liberty haze , super lemon haze , og kush , sour diesel , and GD purps and are in a dome with a small T5.
The mothers are under a 600HPS in veg (I was going to flower mothers at the same time as the SOG).
They are pretty bare from the trimming and big clones I took , but
I left a couple good branches and they are in coir / vermiculite in 2 gal containers,

- will these square pots be big enough to get big tight colas in the SOG flood/drain system ?
- will the mothers form tight colas in the 2gal containers , they are 3 months old and about 30" tall. (im pretty sure they are root bound) but half
the plant is gone now.

Any info would help.
My last 3 auto flowers i grew in the same square containers with coir / vermiculite were root bound and the buds didnt get very tight at all.
I assume for hydro , being root bound wont be a problem.

Thanks

I use 2 gal pots for my hydro grow. 3 gal would be even beter. I think that larger pot would help. good luck match

They shouldnt get root bound cause the flood tray has hydroton in it around pots for extra root growth , right ?

To answer your question yep those are perfect size pots for a SOG. Keep em.
The mothers I would have them in a 5 gallon container. 3 gallon at the Smallest.

Fazer1rlg ,
Thanks for the help. Once I transplant the mothers to 5gal , to I need for them to acclimate , or can I start flowering right away?
Thanks

No problem bro! I would give them a week veg to let them rest from the transplant and get use to their new bigger home. After that flower.

Thanks man. What is a good size cutting to clone for hydro SOG? Is 6" to big? When they go into hydro I start flower right away , with 1/2 strength nutes for a week?

Yeah that's a good size. I take clones with my closer then transplant into a small party cup let the I let the roots fill out the cup. When the clone is between 6-8 inches and the roots clones roots are fully rooted into the party cup. I transplant into 7x7 1 gal smart pots. The plant will stretch 2 to 5 times its height depending on strain and genetics. I yield anywhere between 18 to 30 grams per plant.
