Smell Question...

A pal of mine has 3 plants growing at his casa. 2 of em are pretty tall and lanky while the third is pretty bushy and small comparatively. They're from bagseed so we're guessing the 2 tall ones are sativas while the 3rd is an indica. The weird thing is, the small one is giving off the typical 'marijuana' smell while the others don't. Does anyone know why this is?
