I have this size tent and have low setting on the S & P hooked up and working great. I hooked it up to My DIY carbon filter. I also have a 4 inch intake vent coming in at the bottom with one bottom flap open.

S&P Inline Mixed Flow Exhaust Fan for 4 inch Duct 140 CFM 33w TD-100x

This model has about 90-110 CFM on low.

I get enough negative pressure that it's perfect for filtering the smell and not letting it escape.

That's awesome! Thank you for the reply. I'm leaning toward this fan so it really helps. Is it easy to hook up the cord and plug? Do you have it on a speed controller?

Yeah it's not bad full instructions on how to change to low speed. It does use a different type of speed controller than those can fan types. I didn't bother with that just another cost and 100 or so CFM is enough to need to speed control. Other than that not too loud and smooth running. I sleep in the same room and barely hear it in the closet.
I was surprised how quiet it was when I got everything hooked up.

You can see the plain 100 is the louder fan as the RPM's are higher.

The 100x gives more CFM and uses less watts on low.

The 100x weighs twice as much 4.4 lbs vs 2 lbs

The plain 100 is the smallest sized inline fan they have 5" x 9" vs 7" x 11"

Yup, I found that too. My current fan takes up 11" of vertical space, weighs what feels like 10lbs at least and although isn't loud because i don't need it on full blast, I'm sure it's louder than the 100x. I didn't see the difference in RPM between the 100 and 100x which totally makes a noise difference. Thanks for that. .:) :smile:

I just bought the td125 on Amazon for $80. It's shorter with slightly more rpm than the 100x at 197 cfm that I can dial back. Should be perfect if not overkill. Lol

if it operates on 120vac, you can wire a rheostat into the power cord, and have an adjustable fan. ten bucks if that.

I just attach my filter to the fan and drop it into the top of the tent. the fan rests on top of the tent and the filter inside the tent.. just pull the ties tight. Saves a lot of space in a 2x2. Do you have an opening up there? Keeps you from having to buy a new fan...

You can also add a 90 degree elbow to the fan, then drop it into the tent to run your filter horizontally.

Or... Just run your fan outside the tent... Put your filter inside near the top and duct it to the fan sitting on the floor or something.. then send the air out to wherever you are sending it... Hopefully an attic or window or something.

You can't see it in the pic, but the filter is just mounted to the intake of the fan with metal duct tape and a strap.

S&p makes their own s speed controller for their fans... It looks like this

The brochure does say the td100 & 100x are "suitable for voltage speed control". I'm not clear on what that means exactly.

Did you double check the wiring??

It seems Soler & Palau make fans with different types of motors within their line. I'm going to call them and find out which variac controller, that is what is needed with the td100 and 100x, they recommend or sell. Either that or just wire it to the low fan speed screw but that seems restrictive.

Looks like the best way to control the speed is to use the fan as it's designed..with romex wiring and a 3 position rocker switch... That said, I don't know if this is possible with the 100 or 100x.
