Sex and topping

Can i top my plants before ive sexed them? Will it make it harder to sex as it matures?

I top mine then use the top to sex the plant by sticking it under 12/12 light to force flowering. As soon as it shows sex then you can flip it back to 18/6 and have another plant.

Its only 20 days old. Its ready to top but i dont think the top would be big or strong enough to veg up and flower before my other. Now if i was topping a week or two from now maybe i could but i should be able to sex in 3 weeks at the latest anyway

Definitely wait a while then. I wait until I have 6 or 7 nodes then cut above the 4th one. If you don't want to save the top as a clone you can just stick it in a glass of water under a cfl to get it to show sex. A week to 10 days is usually long enough for flowers to pop out. Sometimes they'll even root in the water.

I can be a bitch with some squat bushy strains when the nodes are basically stacked one on top of the other.
