Seasoned Toker but new to (oil/butter/shatter)

Hello, my first actual post here and this is one of the many reasons I joined. I've been toking for about eight years now, I've never tried to make butter or oil until last week. I used about a gram and added: 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1.5 tablespoons butter, and glycerin (edible one). I mixed all of this together and let it sit a day, the next day I heated it on low setting for about 90 mins, I then used a coffee filter to get out everything but plant matter. I let it sit at room temperature for a while, then put it in the freezer. It turned to a waxy like substance but not as butter or oil looks.

I have read many instructions on it, including on other forum sites. Why didn't I get the product I wanted? Is there any way that I didn't heat it enough.

Btw: prior to any of this I heated the herb to (I beleive the word is decarbonize?). So THC was active. I could tell you anyway to smoke or get high with any utensil except when it comes to this butter/oil. Any help is appreciated.

Pic?

Should be fine to use as you havent used anything unnatural. Q: Would the coffee filter catch and hold the Trichomes?

Ive made butter a few times (before the internet was around) and just boiled up all the green waste, sieved the waste out, let cool a tad and then plonked a pack of butter in the water. let cool on the bench, then to fridge over night. skim butter from top the next day. Did not look like butter as its had a green broth added to it..lol, smelt bad but worked well.

That's a good idea I'm going to try that tomorrow. And I think the glycerin in it made it too compacted to skim as I added more than I should've along with oil and butter... So next time just use butter after then skim the white bubbly (fat from butter) off the top and the bottom is good to go correct?

Also how much herb did you use per x amount of butter?

I edited my post and Q the coffee filter idea, Im no expert on that.

Once its all cold the butter will set on top, just skim it off and use. (cannibis oil will be on top with the butter fat) Toss out the water underneath.

You may need to use more than a gram though to make it worthwhile. I used to just use all my leaves, stems and stalks. So a fair bit of "waste" material.

Did it man, thanks a lot. Workerd perfect like you said. The oil separates from the water so clearly. I knew exactly where every bit of canna butter was. Reespects!
