I hope all these new comer corp bags grow a billion pounds of cannabis before we go legal. Cause it's all not gonna sell and go stale. They are going to get their asses and profits handed back to them.
At this point between the BM and the LP system, we are gonna have more weed than Canada has ever seen before. A glut!!!
By next fall when everyone's 4 outdoor plants are finished....so will their new stores and the excitement around them.
There will be big excitement and lookers in these new stores......including me......maybe buy a few grams to say they did. Then the honeymoon will be over.
Probably a good place to hang around outside grabbing new customers....lol...telling them what th real price of bud is...hahahahahaha
But ya can't really start those 4 plants LEGALLY until July 2018...

This is really chewing my ass....so, if there are no regulations in place to govern edibles, and I dare say beer is edible, how would you even make this deal?...I can honestly say I will never drink another corona again...

Absolutely ridiculous the number of greed bags trying to get in on the green rush as they see it....disgusting beyond words.
Companies ...ex cops...politicians....stock investor assholes.....everyone who could have cared less before. Now they are blinded by greed. I sure hope " the peoples plant " hands them all their asses. Beer and weed lumped together.....sickening

Can't let those alcohol profits suffer from legalizing weed now can they. After all wherever weed has gone legal....booze drinking goes down . Gotta make it up somewhere.
The amount of dirty slime that is gravitating to my precious plant and culture is beyond sickening.
Let's face it....were dealing with folks who promote a poison like alcohol. They make their living selling a liquid that is deadly to some folks in society. Ruining lives and families willy nilly like. What would we expect from folks who pray on others the way big booze does.

They really wanna make Cannabis deadly by mixing with alcohol.
They (Corona) actually said they won't mix the two. I really believe them. It's just another brand on the shelf to them. Each container will probably only have 5-10 mg. They will probably even add vitamin c and a few other beneficial additives like high CBD versions. You would have to drink 2 six packs to get the effects of one well baked cookie.

Look at it from their perspective. They have bottling plants, trucks, marketing operations, distribution agreements and a ready supply of shelf space. What they don't have is increasing sales and revenues, and this may get it for them.

This must be an exciting market opportunity. Just look what happened with bottled water of all things. Look at all the brands and blends available today. Nobody cares that Nestle sells pure spring water that comes from municipal water supplies.

I guarantee you Corona doesn't see any difference. In the end, their product will just be a cannabis delivery vehicle.

The guy mowing his lawn on a sunday doesn't stop to ask where anheiser bush got the water or corn used to brew his bud light. He doesn't look for a chemical analysis to see if there are harmful pesticides. He doesn't care what fining agents were used or how it was filtered. It will be a zero calorie, less filling buzz. Less filling, tastes great......

That is their market. So is the yuppy in the bar who can't smoke, but wants to look cool. Yeah, you can't serve the two in the same bar... yet. But at some point licit infused cannabis drinks will be sold along side licit alcoholic drinks.

Money is pouring in. That's not a bad thing all on it's own. It's being locked out of the market that is a bad thing.

Canada Is Making "Drinkable Marijuana" In 2018
Bud and beer, combined.

Eating and smoking cannabis is so 2017. Drinking is the future of marijuana consumption, and Canadians probably won’t need to wait too long to get their hands on a weed-infused beverage.

Constellation Brands Inc., a Fortune 500 company that produces and markets alcoholic beverages (e.g. Corona) is investing in Canopy Growth Corp, Canada’s largest licensed marijuana producer, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Buying into a 9.9% stakes Canopy Growth, valued at $245 million, Constellation is making the investment to develop “cannabis-infused beverages.”

Constellation can even increase their stake to 20%, if they so choose.

The exact specifics on what type of marijuana-beverages will be created have yet to be revealed. Beer, and soda were alluded to, but again, not confirmed.

Still, given Constellation’s large portfolio of alcoholic beverages (the company distributes wine, tequila, vodka, beer, and more) it wouldn’t be a stretch to see marijuana spirits produced, too.

Canada is the intended market for Constellation and Canopy Growth’s upcoming line of cannabis-infused drinks.

With legalization less than a year away, Constellation wants a cut of the new market. No marijuana products will be sold in the US, even in states where cannabis is legal.

The deal isn’t set to close until the third quarter of fiscal 2018, so there will be some lag time before we actually see cannabis drinks.

You can expect, however, that both companies will be striving towards being the first on the market with a drinkable form of marijuana. A product could then hit the shelves shortly after marijuana is legalized.

2018 is looking to be an exciting year.

From various stories, they say over and over the cannabis infused beverages will be alcohol free....

Canopy CEO Bruce Linton told CNNMoney that it's the first time a major alcohol manufacturer is investing in cannabis.

He said he plans to develop a pot-infused, non-alcoholic drink for the Canadian market. He said it will have zero calories, won't cause hangovers, and is the kind of thing you'd have before going to a comedy club. "You may feel giddy," he said.
Linton says Canada will likely be its first market for cannabis-infused beverages.

...

He is optimistic that these cannabis-infused beverages, which will not have alcohol, will appeal to consumers who want a more “socially-normalized” way of consuming marijuana.
Constellation said it had no immediate plans to sell cannabis products in the U.S. or any other market unless it was legally permissible to do so at both a state and Federal level.

Analysts said a more immediate option for the company could be to develop non-alcoholic cannabis-infused beverages for the Canadian cannabis market. Consultants estimate the Canadian cannabis market to be worth around $5 billion to $10 billion ahead of its expected full legalisation next year.

We'll see. I just think hinting at non-alcoholic beverages was their way of minimizing pushback and scrutiny. Constellation is a BOOZE company and I can't see them avoiding mixing the two and can-o-pee wants into the booze game. If soft drinks was their market, why would they not go after someone already in that market like Coca Cola or Pepsi? Maybe can-o-pee realized the only way to sell their garbage is by infusing it into drinks and selling it to drunk people. It'll be interesting to watch, especially the first time some dumbass does something stupid while drinking cannabis-infused booze. It will be blamed on the cannabis and not the booze.I'll stick to growin' 'n smokin'!

You may be right, but they are a beverage company as much as anything else. Anheiser bush ditributed cans of water during katrina and harvey. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some of those conglomerates also sell spring water, vitamin water, or sports and energy drinks.

In any case, I don't know of a legal market that permits a combination of alcohol and cannabis at the retail level.

I don't really think they care what is in the bottles and cans, as long as people buy them. The real questions are whether (1) they will ever be permitted to combine them and (2) would there be a large enough market for them combined.

They aren't looking at this emotionally. They are looking at it like a business. Might be repugnant, but that's where all of this is going. Name one product people use that doesn't go through businesses along the way. About the only things free are the sunshine, the ocean, and the air you breathe (unless you are on oxygen). Everything else is bought, sold, taxed, and regulated.

That's because one doesn't exist - yet. Could be because cannabis is still illegal? This is the first step imo. You could be right...maybe they're going to make cannabis infused water - but I doubt it. I predict they will introduce a alcohol-cannabis product within a year.

Normally I would not even have a problem with this but you know some fucking idiot will drink the amount that they would while just drinking beer, intake far more thc then they can handle, and end up calling 911 because they think they are dying.

Which is why they will probably only put 5 or 10 mg in a bottle, and if with alc, it will probably 3.2%. At $10 a bottle, nobody will be drinking a 6 pack at a time, and even if they do, meh.

I'm a lightweight and I did small amount of 195 tincture. It sent me sailing, but at no point did I think I was in need of assistance. Food yes, assistance, no. ;)

If you have ever done a shot of grain, you know it can alter your state all on its own. Once you can breathe again that is.

The brewers of Corona have just bought 10% of Can O Pee, (Tweed). For $248mil. Get ready for the corporate takeover. Such a huge mistake to incorporate Cannabis with booze, just a matter of time until the 1st cannabis/booze related death. A sad day for the cannabis culture in my books.

Itsme.
I read the article yesterday. They are planning an alcohol-free drink.

Too bad, I liked Corona as an odd summer beer but anyone with an ASSociation with an LP does not get my money. Smart business move but wrong choice of company to get in bed with. Hey, now we can get sick even faster with non-alcoholic beer infused with schwagg and 17+ pesticides, f*k that.

Well it's going to be fat based or alcohol based....got to get it into solution somehow....unless they make it part of the carbonation, but I can't seem to square that in my head....
