Your right that they will act in their own interests. That's why they will not vote to impeach Trump as they know Trump voters will vote them out of office a year from now. Fog is right it's a pipe dream to think they will impeach Trump it's not the 70's anymore. The only Republicans that will get on board with impeachment are those in swing districts and there is not enough of them.

if trump gets elected again, it will be 4 years of uncivil war. i'll go out of my way to antagonize ever trumptard i become aware of. it will not be safe to wear a fucking maga hat in my sight.
if you think you've ever seen partisan politics, just wait. the democrats will block EVERYTHING he tries to do, he'll have to go to the supreme court to get toilet paper for the whitehouse...they'll challenge everything he does, everything. he won't be able to pass a single thing through normal channels. if he gets anything done, it'll be more shady illegal shit, just like everything else he's done for his entire misadministration

I honestly don't see him winning a second term, but if he did it would probably be the last time the Republicans ever take power. I just want Trump and Pence to go away and let the dominoes fall to wherever this country is going next.

hopefully where it's going next is to spend at least the first year of the new president's administration undoing the damage that trump has done...kick the fucking oil companies out of protected areas, and re-protect them. kick the hunters out of preserve areas, and keep them out. refund nasa, pbs, the arts, and get rid of his "space force"....appoint qualified, intelligent, experienced people to be ambassadors, not fucknut asshole drinking buddies who immediately insult their hosts and alienate us from the entire world...
re insert troops in syria, and kick the fucking turks all the fucking way back to turkey, HARD. quit negotiating with oppressive, communist, evil fucks.
start a comprehensive, aggressive, coordinated war on cyber interference of any kind. no nation should feel it's safe to interfere in our election. i'd take out the top 20 hackers in russia as an object lesson. really. not just talking. i'd kill them, as a lesson to the rest of the world. there ARE repercussions for interfering in our process...large, violent repercussions.

I have faith in the fact that Mitch McConnell is a sneaky cocksucker, who will find a way to get out from under Donald's thumb. If they go into 2020 with Trump running they will lose the whole ball of wax bigly, Mitch knows this. There is gonna be a lot of shit coming out on Donald in the next year as congress gets the courts onside and picks up steam. Mitch will cut Donald's throat, they only have to give up 20 votes of those who are running in 2022 or 2024, Mitch and the rest can vote against impeachment and will, it will be all prearranged (to minimize damage), sudden and over quickly. Donald might not even have time to sign any pardons or more likely won't give a shit about those waiting on them.

If the GOP want to acquit Trump in a slam dunk impeachment trial on national TV and have him lead the republicans over a cliff and screaming on fire all the way down into the abyss, Nancy would be OK with that too. Donald lost by 3 million votes the last time, how many do you think he will lose by this time? I know it's by state, but he won't get the toss up states this time and will lose some red ones too, down ticket it will be a massacre for the GOP right down to dog catcher.

Some thing is up. Trump has been unusually quiet on social media for the last day, along with Barr's announcement of a criminal inquiry into the Russia investigation tells me Rudy is about to be indicted. They are always trying to stay a step ahead of the news cycle.

Rudy is gonna sing or Donald is gonna pardon him and I don't think Donald will end up pardoning very many. Besides, Donald knows that anybody he pardons will squeal on him under oath, they are off free and clear then, no reason to risk perjury and prison for Donald, no 5th amendment rights for them after a pardon either. I don't think he's gonna get a great deal either, they have Donald dead to rights on enough to put him away for several lifetimes, they don't need Rudy for much, except perhaps the impeachment trial.

if everyone who voted in 2012, votes in 2020, it shouldn't be a problem..mathematically his base isn't large enough and then there's those who gave him a chance and wish they didn't vote him. just because he has 90% approval rating you have to consider 90% of exactly what these days?
