Do you mean that whole grow space is 3 foot tall max, or you have about 5 feet and are using a HPS? If your area is 3 foot tall then im sure you using CFL or LED. CFL tend to make plants grow bushy if you keep them nice and close. Also tieing branches down and tieing the main stalk down will help you keep your plant shorter. Choose a indica dominant strain for all around shorter bushier plants. Your plant will at least double in size when you start to flower, so plan accordingly. You could always go 12/12 from start to make sure you have enough room.

ya buddy its true, its called topping. ther is probly a million threads on the exact ways, but basicly thats it wen you cut the top off your main stem and the next 2 under it become your 2 mains and so on... which souds like you will have to master in your area resrictions.
best of luck

you wait until they are 5 nodes tall and you cut off the top 3 nodes or top 2 nodes depending on the results you want. read the Uncle Ben's Topping Guide sticky.

just bend it,works pretty well for me if u top dont put it into flower intill it recover but i would bend one plant and the top the other and see which one comes out the best
