Pruning bushy Indica before flower

This is our first run and we trimmed off a bunch of lower, and a few upper, overlapping fan leaves during the final week of veg to prevent mold during flowering. Was this a bad mistake? I've heard of pruning during flowering to help lower buds but the growers bible says it can make flowers retarded if u prune but I've heard of many successful grows with pruning, so I'm wondering if u guys have any experience with this bushy problem. Even tho I took a lot of leaves off, I didn't take off more than ten percent. I've included a before and after pic, thanks in advance for ur advice guys!

Leaves fall off in nature because they are dead, if chopping off green leaves increased yield then it would be practiced in professional agriculture all around the world.

Well this was supposed to be the last week but I'm gonna keep them vegging now for a while till fan leaves come back..thanks for being assholes guys

There are worse shading Idica's out there.
I always trim my LA Conn's, as if you don't then the finish is way to uneven and you don't get full potential out of your bud.
How about trimming suckers off? Ever grow tomato's?

Jorge is not ALWAYS right! I find him opinionated and closed minded to things he doesn't believe in. Even Ed R says it can be done, if done right.

Haha funny u say that Dr, I just bought tomato and pepper seeds for this upcoming spring..I just got into growing and I truly enjoy the experience so I wanted to have fun with growing some veggies and fruits too, but no, never done anything really before. What are trimming suckers lol, sorry imma noob. And yea I've found that even the growers Bible he wrote is very one sided and opinionated..

Also, clipping one and not another would be a perfect test. If some of the leaves overlapped and got wet from my inexperience of using a bottle to water early in life (I'm using coco) instead of a hydrogen halo which I bought a couple of weeks in then they had signs of being damp and almost moldy, so I don't wanna risk any BS so that's where I got the first idea. Then I figured overlaying might cause problems during budding, which I think was me being paranoid, and that's where this whole pruning mess came from..lol thanks for the REAL help I was looking for in the past comments from chareface on!

I trim my plant all the time, I know I might sound like a huge stoner saying this but look where we are! I trim my plant once a week to keep it in good shape as well trying to get light to some areas of the plant encouraging growth as well overall bonding with my plant.
Most of the time it's dead foliage but I do cut the occasional green leaf when I think it's going to turn yellow soon anyway. That's just my 2 cents, Good luck on your grow!

Even with 2000 watts the light does not
penetrate my entire canopy..

I get rid of the bottom 1/3
It improves air flow and allows the
plant to focus on making tops not bottoms.

But surely we all like a neatly trimmed bush? The more you trim it, the faster it grows back.

No offense... however... Grow Weed Easy has some bad ideas....
I subscribe to GWE... some of there advice is completely wrong and off base...

Over lapping leaves on top of your plant NEVER need to be cut off...
Your fans should be blowing them gently so they are never in the same spot... ???
You have good air movement?

Personally... I grow way more MJ than I can smoke.... And I smoke a lot...
I have found... I cut [in harvest] all my top colas off, and jar them and smoke them...
The medium size buds... I dry ...cure and long term save... with a 62 % Boveda

I always just cut off and "Throw away" all this lower good growth/bushy/extra small low buds/trim...
I just was throwing it away...
So, after 21 days in Bud, after the 'stretch' is over... That is when I now trim...
Those low "sucker" shoots, sometimes, they shoot up and grow to the top of plant...
I wonder how many of these shoots you will cut in veg?
If you must cut, you might try to wait until the plant has stopped stretching in Bud...
That way you won't chop Bud Sites!!!!

I TRY to have my trimming done by the time actual flowers are present. But your saying I could safely do the entire job
at the end of stretch without stunting them.

If so that would be way better for me. wouldnt lose the ones that were going to reach, while getting rid of the stuff
that appears after I trim that I just leave now.

Hopefully you will verify this.
if not Ill just try one.

None taken. I've never met two growers that completely agree with every method.

The op was just worried about trimming his plant so I thought this would help to reassure him that he hasn't done anything majorly wrong. Me personally I'd veg them for a couple of weeks more then switch over if required.

As to whether the information is valid, then the op will just have to make up his own mind I guess?
