Nute burn?

Roots are slightly brown (could be AN Piranha I'm using as it doesn't seem to every dissolve in the water) and they are soaking in a nicely aerated 4 gallon res. There was a ppm increase with the res change. I went from 700 to 900 ppm. One other note... I woke up this morning and the pH had dropped from 6 to 4.25. Normally speaking, my pH would increase ever so slightly every couple days.

This is my first grow.

You might want to check the roots and see if they smell bad or have slim on them. Another question is do you add your nutrients directly to your res? I ask because you can burn the roots that way you need to let the solution stand awhile. I did that with a DWC grow. I'd have pure white roots huge growth and would be happy. And then I'd mix 5 gallons of nutrients into one gallon of water and pour it in there all at once with the roots hanging in the solution. I'd see a little browning on the roots then I'd see pythium I bought everything on the market to fight it. But it was me burning them and then the pythium set in. So if you can mix per gallon or don't have your root mass in the solution when you mix and let it stand a few minutes before you put everything in there. Well good luck just my 2 cents.

They do have a slight brown slime to them. I also woke up this morning to a bad smell in the res and foam on top of the water. Normally speaking, I poor all water in first and then add nutes.

Yeah you've got the pythium aka (root rot)...Are the roots hanging in there when you add the nutrients? Ok here is what I would do. #1 change your res with Ro or distilled. #2 Go to the hydro store and buy some dutch master zone. the only thing that I've used that really works. and I've tried Hydrogen peroxide. Beneficial bacteria. Hydro guard. Sm90 but it does work as a root conditioner. The sulphur in it helps mixed with the copper in the zone. #3 Put some more seeds in the paper towel. The reason I say this is because root rot never really goes away it's an on going thing. And yours are so small and early that if you start over you'd be out 3 weeks if that. #4 don't feel bad it's your first grow most people don't do as well as you there first. Oh and advance is powerful stuff and if your running it full strength with those little plants then you might be burning the roots when you mix. Try running 400-650 ppm and just the base nutrients. And see if your plants like it. You don't need more than that in veg. so next time lower the nutrients. Anyhow that's my 2 cents.

what up
A enyzme will also help with the root rot. hygrozyme and sensisyzm are popular. also sometimes if you are splashing water on the lower leafs you get messed up leafs that have multiple symptoms. Another thing to make sure you keep a close eye on is the res temp. Anything above 70 is a cause for concern. low sixties is ideal. lower res temps also help you get the best out of your airstones. lower temp equals higher DO (dissolved oxygen). A waters temp directly dictates how much DO how it can have.
Also some of the upper leafs seem like they have heat stress. What is the temp at the top of the canopy?

Supergrow... Hit up my new thread that I just started. This one is super old. Dealing with new problems and different plants. I got into an argument with the wifey and they kinda sorta got destroyed.

I do have one question though.... I consistently check my res temp and I'm normally between 73-76. Should I buy a res chiller?

No, overwatered and in turn this is browning your roots. add about 8 hours between waterings. Also in the 3rd pick ,whats wrong with plants in background.:-?

900ppm seems strong for wee plants like these, i would back off on the nutes, and try adding hydrogen peroxide or even chlorine/bleach (check out fatman on this)

5ml/gallon of H2O2 29% should be added every 3 days to your water. It'll prevent this from ever happening again. Plus air stones which I'm sure you have under there should be cleaned every week........

900ppm is way high for those plants. Bump it down to 450-550ppm and they will be much happier.................

Good to know!!! Can you comment on my other thread? I'm doing a soil grow for the first time and running into problems.
