if you get power outages often, you can buy these delayed timers, so if the power goes out, the timer will remain off for 20-30 minutes to allow the bulb to cool down
I wouldn't bother with the generator unless your power outages are frequent and lengthy....it's not disruptive on the plant if power outages occur occasionally
Op I've got a ballast that has a 15 minute safety delay, could be something to look for in the future. Those timers sound like the ticket for now though. The 20-30 minute delay ISK mentioned sounds better to me too.
Should be fine, same thing happened to me except unplugged my socket while it was turned on, it killed my ballast, had no light for 2 days. If the genetics are bad it would of hermied regardless.
No. You'll be fine. As isk said, it's prob harder on the light than your plants

If you're in an climate area where you get feezing temps in the winter a generator can save your grow. If you're not in a cold climate like that you can get by with some Coleman lanturns for light and heat when the power goes off during flowering. Half a dozen led flashlights will also help out in a blackout.

Yeah where I'm at its not uncommon for winter temps to get well below freezing. Usually into negatives actually. So I'm thinking this winter I may pick up a generator just in case! Thanks for the tips!
