So with this grow am trying to go by VPD. My Temps with lights on stay 78-82 and lights off 68-71. I currently have my inkbird running 57.5-60 percent RH by VPD,but when my lights go off and my Temps drop a few degrees it says VPD I should have around 40 percent RH. So do I set my InkBird on a timer so go off when lights go off my my hunidity can go lower than what I have the InkBird set at? Or does VPD with lights off not matter? And when my lights quick off my Temps drop inly 10 degrees. And my hunidity jumps causing my InkBird to wake me up with its loud beep. I just bought a new dehumidifier not thinking my old one was working but I'm guessing there is no humidity to pull of the air? Someone please help me!!!

VPD is over rated.

Plant transpiration isn't on my "things to worry about" chart unless water is rolling down the walls. Then a good dehumidifier is in order.
I have had it happen. Not a good thing.
Growing in a basement tent, and trying to keep temps up by running exhaust just on temperature. The humidity spike at lights out is pretty crazy

Of course. That's when the stomata opens and your plants take a great big exhale. It's also a good time to foliar feed.

A lot of things happen at light out. That's why it's important to give your plants a breather by not running lights 24/7. I have a couple plants in a small tent in a bedroom, and the smell of skunk wakes me up at 3am when terpene production is peaking. It's pissing off the wife. lol

Well I was told VPD alot is good to go off of, I grow in a 2x4 in my dining room. But I got alot of feedback with vpd being great, I should get a InkBird and yadada. So VPD is not worth the hassle?

It sounds like you are chasing yield ?
If that is the case it sounds like other issues may be at play

VDP is indeed important, but controlling it in a home grow? Not so much. The only people who pay attention to it are in commercial, and in some advanced home grows. If you have a sealed room, you can control it to max out a grow. In a 2x4 tent, you'll be playing Whack-A-Mole. Even if you could control it (you can't), dialing it in would at most give you an extra gram. You'd be better off adding a DIY CO2 soda bottle (seriously... look into this).

Growing commercially is scientific because it's good business. With everything dialed in perfectly (or close to it), a 10,000 square foot space can yield 30-40% more. And AAAA quality to boot.

If you already own the facility, it costs about $150cad per square foot to build out (retro fit). Is it any wonder business has to be so thorough? The numbers have to work. At home, you can recoup your costs the first time you grow two plants!

Here's what you, as a home grower has to focus on for yield and quality.
1. Lighting
2. Temp and Humidity
3. Feeding / Watering
4. Air flow (fan)
5. If you really want to take advantage of CO2, grow in your basement.

Home growers don't have a good enough excuse to do more than that.

I drove myself nuts messing with vpd. Now I try and just keep RH% In check 60-70 for veg and 40-50 In flower. The humidity (to me) is the big thing.

To be honest, it's pissing me off too. I'm using it as an excuse to put up a couple tents in the basement and use the dryer vent for an exhaust. I'm rural and don't have neighbors so it's an easy fix.
