Perpetual 12/12 from Seed

So, I currently only have one light. I will eventually be buying or making more, but for the meantime I was thinking of trying out a perpetual grow using 12/12 from seed. Basically I would have 6 plants total, but stagger them so I pop a new seed every two weeks. That way I can harvest a plant every two weeks and give them 12 weeks to flower to make sure that the buds are ripe every time. I am planning on using a couple nirvana strains that they claim to be 7-9 week strains, but I’ve never grown them so only time will tell. I’ll be putting my first seed in a paper towel this weekend. Figured I might as well start them now, while my other plants are finishing up since I have the room.

Has anyone else grown this way? How was the yield per plant? So long as I get at least an ounce per plant I’ll be happy. I’m only growing for myself, so that’s all I need. Plus I’ll just turn the trim into dabs or make edibles.

Also, if you were growing this way would you do 13/11 instead? The logic being to give them a little more energy each day. I typically flower with an 11/13 schedule, so it would be 2 more hours a day of lights than what I normally do.

There are lots of threads about 12/12 from seed on this site if you search for them. Its totally a doable way to grow. You can totally get an ounce per plant if done right.

Just as an FYI so you can be prepared, young plants won't begin flowering instantly just because they are under 12/12 lighting. They will grow in a vegetative state until they become mature enough biologically to actually reproduce. Then they will begin to flower.

What @Thundercat said. Ill just add that that then means to not do 12/12 from seed. Give em 18/6 or more until you see staggered nodes, then hit flower.
If ya cloning then after rooting hit flower.

When you search the posts that show up are for auto flowers and I’m not using autos. I also said I currently only have one light. So that means I’m not currently cloning and maintaining a mother plant. I asked specifically about hours within the flowering schedule to try and maximize growth when flowering from seed. I was trying to see if someone had played around with 13/11, 12/12, and 11/13 schedules when trying to flower from seed.

I was debating on what I wanted to do for my next grow until I get more lights to minimize the time between harvests. So basically I can pop seeds and put them under my light which is currently flowering for another three weeks and flip them back to veg for a couple weeks then flower them to reduce some of the veg time or I can try doing a perpetual flower from seed. But if I do that method I should plan on needing 8 plants in total not 6. Or I would need to space the time between starting the next plant from 2 weeks to 3 weeks.

I was also trying to see if it was worth running shorter flowering time strains or longer flowering strains. The genetics that I have all lean to the more “sativa” side of things. So I’m typically in flower for 14-18 weeks. Regardless I got a few seeds that are more “indica” that claim to have a 7-9 week flower. So I’m guessing that means they will be 10-12 week flower times, which also shortens a month between harvests.

So I’m not partial to any method at this time. Just trying to decide how I move forward. I currently have LEDs on order to build my own quantum board. At the same time the light I originally bought is sold out and I am waiting for it to become available again before I order a second one. However my current grow is my first one using a quantum board, so now that I understand the lights limits I don’t want to completely abandon them and rely on something different.

Yes you can do it. I'd just stick with 12/12 myself. I do 12/12 from seed somewhat often. Getting an ounce per plant is very doable. Some strains yield more than others.

I believe @HighLowGrow was doin that with BKR , really good thread , but seems he hasn’t posted since April 2021.

Might have to pm , hope things are well.

Clones work well with SOG , simple grow bag grows and bud for days.
He, and a couple others who were breeding their own autos were driven from this site by self proclaimed "elitist" growers here.

That makes sense. To be honest I haven’t been on this site for about 10 years and have been reminded of why I quit signing on as well. But I was needing a new light and wanted to see what people were using before I purchased mine.

For now I just put two seeds in a wet paper towel and I will put them under my flower light once they sprout. I think I am going to reveg one of the plants I am currently growing and I’ll probably just grow two/three plants normally again. The reveg is a weird mutant that has 10-tailed leaves. It even has a fan leaf with flowers growing out of it. Reminds me of the tree of life from boruto. I just hope it’s not trying to steal all the chakra....

I’ll be fine going a little over three months between harvests. Plus by the time those are ready to flower I’ll hopefully have a second light, so that I can dim my lights to 75% and still have a good yield.

This is an interesting idea.

I have enough room in my flowering tent for 16 plants in 1.5 imperial gallon pots. I only have 12 plants vegged and ready to go into flower.

So if I were to put 4 freshly popped seedlings on at the same time as the others, when could I expect them to start flowering? Roughly. I normally veg for a minimum of 12 weeks.
