Panel or Bar LED

What is the difference between the two? Obviously they are built different, but what is the purpose of the design difference? Are they supposed to be used in different types of grow room setups?

Bars have a better even spread of light. Also noticed less heat.

Wouldn’t the heat theoretically be the same but just spread out more?

Choice depends on how you grow. I think multi-bar fixture are ideal for sea-of-green farmers & short tents.

It very well may be.. but, with the bars allowing air flow between sets of diodes, it’s easier to cool it down. So heat is less of an issue. It seems easier to control anyhow.

Bars are better in every department. Only way I'd recommend a Board or cased light is if you only grow one plant under it so to not waste evenly lit space with no plants there, a few skinnies under the core print or if you have high ceilings with multiple crosslights. Evenly Spread, semi- diffused light or crammed diodes on a small hot plate with a hot spot? Your choice.

Yes. Fact, not theory. People often confuse a lights temperature with the amount of heat produced, heat and temperature are two different things.

The only difference is the distance from light to canopy. 6 to 12inches for bar and 12 to 30inches for boards.

They're both good. If you're talking about multiple board arrays, such as the HLG scorpion.

Single board lamps are old school, dated technology.
