Outside vs Inside temperature

I'm 20 days into my first indoor grow (blue dream) and I'm curious to how it's okay for temps to be in the 100's outside all summer but I need to regulate my temps in the mid 70's while growing indoors? People are growing 10lb yielding plants around here outside. I just thought this was strange and wanted further clarification from the veterans.

Heres a pic from my garden feel free to tell me something looks fucked up. I want to learn 20150902_190153.jpg 20150902_190254.jpg :)

you do not want it getting over 85 indoors really
keep the air constantly moving do not let too much heat get near the actual foliage of the plants
leaves should always feel cold to the touch, if they feel warm they are losing the battle of keeping themselves cool by drinking

if you can keep it at 70-75 that will be great, as you get over 85 especially with soil you could have problems
its not so much the heat i find but the lack of new fresh air coming in, high temps in the grow room normally indicate that not enough new air is coming in
which means not enough of the used air is being removed, so the room ends up becoming co2 depleted when this happens they turn yellow the leaf edges go crispy
and they start to die fast

peace

I keep my plants in a 80+ degree environment at night. However, they are sleeping in a pitch dark environment.

One of my videos on YouTube is about the room I use. Just search "solar flowered basics of the insides" and it gives you a scoop on how I let my girls sleep.

Bigger plants have more surface area for water retention/evaporation. And a larger root system to help replace lost moisture. Larger, deeper, cool roots, thick stalks and branches help bigger plants. More evaporation and more circulation (water and air) = cooler plants. You can't achieve the same level of photosynthesis indoors. I don't know if that helps or not.

Yeah that makes perfect sense. It just didn't make sense to how these giants thrive in such high temps but you made it clear. This has been a great first post :D

1st indoor grow! The plants look good man. Keep the room clean. Don't get clones from people. Clone your own plants or grow from seed. That's my advice.
Hey thanks man! I wanted to scrog but I guess it's better to start from seed so you can train them way better than a clone. I have this huge center stalk that will be hard to turn horizontal.

The clones I got looked healthy from the club I go to, which are grown at a reputable nursery so for a clone it's nice but like you said I should of started with a seed

My plants stay in 78f-85f indoors but they were grown from seed in the same environment.(Not sure it that matters) They don't skip a beat at all, other than the bare bulb getting to close at times. When I had my room cooler they were growing much slower than they do now.

I said that because you could get bugs from other people. If you have a good source with no bugs then you're fine. It reminded me of when I first started out 25 years ago I had a nice closet grow and got a clone with bugs from a friend. before I knew what happened they were everywhere.I ended up chopping everything and starting over twice before I could get rid of them. That's why I said keep it clean and clone your own.

Or just get nice healthy clones from friends who don't have infested gardens ;-)
