Outside 12/12

You use a giant movable disk to block out the sun.

Anyone who's watched The Simpsons knows that.

Indoor rules don't apply to Outdoor. As the days get shorter the plant begins to flower. Depending on where you are in the world the moment of "flowering" is up to you to determine.

12/12 outside is determined by the season spring the days are slowly getting longer till summer when the days are longest then start getting shorter as fall comes until the days are 12/12 until spring when the start shortening again

Ooosh! Traditionally the temperatures drop here in New Zealand, but the weather comes right making for long days of clear blue skies(march through may). yaye thanks for youre time in replying. I do watch the simpsons every now and then, but must have missed that episode. Youve given me a great idea though. will make a cylinder type surrounding (the size of a rubbish bin just taller) from black plastic sheet and bamboo for the supports, add the lid and kapow!. light and easily removeable. thanks again

Outdoor plants in NZ are starting to flower now apparently. You can plant now but the plant will not be very big as the will quickly change focus from growth in size (veg) to flowering.

This is true... In NZ they will generally start flowering outdoors around the beginning of Feb naturally (mainly depends on strain and how much direct light the location gets). Because the light hrs do not suddenly switch to 12/12 the change into flower is more gradual so a traditional 8 week strain indoors might take around 10 weeks outdoors.. An example is the 5 larger plants in my thread started shooting pistils around the 27th of Jan by themselves... And I expect them to finish around the 30th march - 10th of April (this is about 9-10.5 weeks).
With my 2 smaller plants I manually put them in a grow tent (as a darkroom) on the 24th of Jan to fully induce them to flower with a proper 12/12 cycle, did this for about a week putting them in and out.. Their buds are more developed because they kicked into flower properly like an indoor plant would when switched to 12/12 even though they started just 3 days earlier than the rest they appear to be around 1-2 weeks ahead of the rest and should be finished around the 21st-28th of March (8-9 weeks). Only did this to get a little early harvest cause i couldn't wait hehe :)

With outdoors its best to just leave the plants where they are to do their thing :) Hope this helps!
