Outdoor 100 gal pots (Soil) - looking for advice

I’ve been growing indoor for around 8 years in coco. Pretty well have that dialed in and have experience with every possible problem throughout the years. This year I acquired some property and started growing in soil 100 gal smart pots. Definitely running into some transition issues and would love some advice from people who have grown outdoors in soil at this size.

Do you guys know of any grow journals or videos of anyone growing like this that I could read up on or watch their videos? I thought with everything I’ve learned over the years I would easily be able to make this transition, but outdoor soil in massive pots is completely different than indoor coco hydro. Would love to master this and dial in my outdoor grow just like my indoor grows.

I am currently growing in 100 gallons and have in the past successfully. Will definitely point you in the right direction.

stay on top of your watering needs, summer heat and sun will bake your soil bone dry faster than the cinderella settings of an indoor tent.

My advice would be to get soil test, amend as needed if its possible to grow in ground. I realise that's not always possible for alot of reasons but imo in quality ground it's about as set it and forget it as it gets . As stated learning to water them correctly is key

It’s pure sand in northern Michigan, so I had to bring in some black top soil from a little further south. Looked more like dirt than soil when delivered, so I amended it’s with some pro-mix HP, perlite, sand, and a little lime and worm castings. Didn’t have time to have it tested unfortunately.

And you’re not kidding about drying out quick! They were looking droopy and I assumed over water because I had just transplanted them into 100 gal from 5 gal, but they were bone dry just a couple days later. Big change from auto watering twice a day in coco!

I plan on putting some clover on top to help with the dirt getting so hard when dried and making it easier to top dress with dry amendments later.

Thanks for the tips! Keep em coming
