Heynow, RUI brothers and sisters. I'm on my way now, moving to the bay area from just south of Philly. I decided to make the move almost completely because i want to get a MM card and learn to grow from experts. I don't know anyone out west. I'm driving out now and plan on finding a room to rent once i get there. any advice is appreciated

Maybe lining up a room before you leave might be a slightly better plan, unless you have a large bankroll and can pay for a decent hotel for up to a month while you look for a room for rent. As far as the three cities you mentioned above, Finding a nice part of town in Oakland and San Jose can be a little tricky, I would advise moving to Santa Rosa since I have lived there, the only downside is the job market there sucks so you will most likely have to commute to a good job.

If you are planning on renting a room and growing that may take some additional searching to find a good place to do both. Seems like you kinda didnt plan this out too well, I wish you the best of luck in your adventure.

I haven't spent much time in santa rosa, so can't help with that one. Oakland is a little rough for most people. I mean, I like it but I have been runnin around the town since I was a youngster and know how much better it is now than say, 10 years ago. San Jose is my city...born and raised...its a bit of a trip because the environment is pretty conservative compared to the rest of the bay area, I mean we didnt get any dispo's until last year for chrissakes. The one awesome thing about san jose is the fact that you are centrally located and can get to oakland, SF, santa cruz within an hour's time. Makes it convenient if your hunting for strains or genetics or if you just like to get out and explore.

All the cities you mentioned have solid pro's and con's, not sure exactly what your into but hope this helps.

I definitly could have planned the move better, but more time planning=longer wait till i'm in cali. i'm not a baller of any kind, but i do have enough chips stashed to rent a cheap room for a long time, and i'm recieving unemployemnt. It ain't much, but i could make do with less. i also have no problem sleeping in my car and cheap hotel rooms until i find the right place. I was thinking Oakland would be the most centrally located, and afordable. maybe i can even join a gang. WESTSIDE!!!

who's the crazy beard guy?

I'm not leaving Philly forever. I've got a big family and too much love back home. I just have crazy life and need a big change. So i decided I'd go out west.

I don't think any part of Oakland could be as bad kensington or the bad lands. I really doubt it. So i think i'll survive.

I was thinking the same thing.I got a sister who lived out in Cali for awhile and she said its not as bad as people make it out to be.That was 3 years ago though so it might of changed,She lived in Oakland for 2 years and near Mcarthur Park for 2 or 3.

I'm trying to aviod all gangsters and thugs when i get out there. Peace Love and Happiness.

I don't even really know what a swap meet is. I just know thats where Dr.Dre and Snoop hang out.

Is Oakland really that bad? Will I not be able to live in peace? Are there gangs everywhere? Have you really ever spent a considerable amount of time Oakland?

Oakland is pretty nasty, why did you choose the bay area, it is expensive as hell to live. the cost of living is crazy. if you really want to get into growing and maybe find roommates that are cool with it try humboldt county or anywhere in the golden triangle. I personally live in san deigo and I fucking hate it, but I am stuck untill i finish school. good luck to you and happy driving

oakland is like all big cities ya know, it has its bad areas and not so bad areas. People who havent been around lately have alot of ideas but I go up there on a weekly basis and am living proof that it aint all crazy. Now, 10+ years ago the whole town was a crack infested mess. No bullshit, I got shot at more than once for just being in the wrong neighborhood. Now its not nearly as bad. I don't even get looked at twice. Just stay away from the projects and you should be safe.

SJ has more to offer than a swap meet and its not even a swap meet, its a flea market but is actually more like a huge outdoor market because you have lots of locally grown fruits and vegetables available as well as all kinds of other things. Oakland is really urban, SJ is a mix of urban and suburban, santa rosa (from what I have seen) is rural. In terms of rent, oakland and SJ are pretty high santa rosa is less expensive. Like I say, they each have pro's & cons.

Depends on what you personally like.
