i wasnt even talking about large plants, yield, or putting them in the ground. but if you have to put them away that makes sense.

Edit: in your climate it just makes sense to use a greenhouse.

the greenie gets her skin on in a week or 2, right when i spray for mold for the first time......and i have 3 girls in my permanant greenie right now,,,,,i probably should update this thread with the grand scope, but so much of it is experimental, i hesitate......the main reason everything is modular is to move them in and out of the greenie to keep dew, rain, and frost from touching my colas....the greenie circus is coming.....i don't bother protecting anything until the swell.

what i was getting at was a hoophouse that you could continue doing exactly what you are, but without moving them in and out. big enough to work in etc. moveable plants in the greenhouse. because of your cold nights i would want them covered regardless of buds being present. also if they were in the hoophouse during the day u would have privacy then as well. im going to ignore your statement in previous post about large plants being easy to grow :)

Edit: i dont know how feasible is it for someone with disabilities to move plants like you do.

i knew that statement would stir it up a bit!:-P......i don't really mean that.....i am just jealous of your weather........yeah, thats what i mean about these plants being too big.....too much work for someone with disabilities..as a matter of fact, i may be disabled after this grow....my back is toast right now, esp. after digging those holes....i like your idea with the platforms and castors.....but then one needs a bunch of flat space, asphalt/slab etc....my favorite scenario, is 10 gal. smarts with handles that i drag in and out of my permanent greenie (into dark room)....in the spring/early summer....everything is on one story!....i am already planning my next one, and making some modifications to accomidate....like larger door openings etc.....someday i would like to build a custom growers paradise......i live within a unique space, and am still in the process of dialing it in.......my outdo has always been a struggle with the climate and everything else, but i have to say...i am one of the only growers in my area that is achieving consistant results in yield and quality......but i attribute that mostly to my O.C.D and my refusing to give up.....i really do enjoy the challange....its like growing weed on the fucking moon....thanks for your input bro.

ya i was dragging plants in and out of my greenhouse during the spring. i wanted them to get as much lumens as possible. my hoophouse is up against a patio. in the late afternoon it gets shaded so i was trying for them to get as much sun as possible. after a while i just said screw it, and left them in there. same thing with the light dep. i could have moved them into my indoor room @ night but i figured it easier just to pull a tarp over them.

D-Train, Sour Kush, and Cheesequake........SK is furthest along, followed by the DT, looks like CQ will be the very last girl in this year......the SK and DT are huge, and all extremely happy.....

Don't get me wrong I appreciate your efforts and growing ability and setup... But... Considering the large size you grow your plants to don't you find all the training of them to be somewhat overkill? A big bush will be a big bush if you let it, I could see more if you were dealing with height restraints or something or space or I don't know what. I just get this feeling if monk (read OCD) was growing weed, your plants are what his would look like ;) I mean that in the nicest way! I am subbed nonetheless and do enjoy your thread!

the reason i grow the way i do is to grow donkey dicks....period...........i am working within the confines of yielding a ounce per gallon of soil, indoor, outdoor, and in the greenhouse.....7 to 20 gallon containers, and yield respectively.....now i am also talking about not counting larfy bud, or popcorn......pure cola nug.....top shelf......this has always been about the volume of the container of soil.......i could very easily stick a plant in a 200 gallon hole full of ammended soil, prune the plant into a bush, add support, and get a decent yield......but i tell you what i would not get....esp. in the upper midwest, is 200 ounces of pure top shelf nug......i would get approx 30 ounces of marginal mids, (bud structure/density) and about 30 -40% of its total volume would be popcorn/ larfy shit............i think it is cool to grow a 10 pounder in a 1000 gal smartie, don't get me wrong, but there is a line of diminishing returns when it comes to energy in/energy out......... and i am finding through adhering to the zip/gal. principle, that i can operate right at that line........through smart pots, Main-Lining, supurb ingredients, and proper canopy management.....striving to operate at the very highest level of efficiency has always, and will always be my primary Geek!

thank you for that.....i had to get that out....peace brother....nugs

p.s.....you want to see why i do this the way i do.....stick around till the first week of Oct......for the donkey show......when i harvest, i want to see nothing but these........

i think you could grow much bigger plants and produce the same quality.. but hey call me an optimist.
you ever try growing herb in the upper midwest?.....its hard....very hard......to produce a top shelf product here takes a lot of heart/smarts......i know i could grow a 5 pounder of pretty good quality here...but again, it is about energy in/out........my overhead is really low considering everything that goes into the equation......in the grand scope, very little went into my whole sun scene, much more in the way of smarts and a commitment to maximum efficiency....you ever do a cost analysis?......for a whole year.....i used to own a business in an extremely tight market, and watched my biz grow for 15 years through cost analysis/efficiency....i learned an awful lot of useful knowledge.....there is always a line.

Riddle me this for a comparison sake... Have you ever grown a side by side, one without the pruning and whatnot you do to them. I'm just curious what gains do the top half of the plant get from removing the lower half? I'm sure as long as the nutes are good the top half should do just fine either way no? Then that leaves you all that larfy popcorn for making hash.

The short version, do the gains of mainlining as you call it outweigh giving up the part of the plant that would provide mucho hash. I'd be curious how that would pan out monetarily speaking

good point.....and yes, i used to grow the other way(s) before i started Mainlining, and i will keep on doing it because it makes the whole investment worth while....it is hard to argue quality yield....but i am a flower grower bro, resin never enters the equation....unless it is encrusting a flower.

You know what it is, you are what I consider a connoisseur grower. Most of those types of people do it on a smaller scale though because they have so much attention to detail it's just not as possible to do it large scale. But you make the effort to go big and still be a connoisseur about it! That makes you quite unique and a cut above the rest I say!

nugs, i was trying to pay you a compliment. if you were able to utilize a full season greenhouse (control your climate completely) i believe you could grow plants like a vine, heavily pruned and have a similar outcome. as for cost analysis, most everything i have purchased is an investment. all i need is dry amendments and castings, to produce potentially (lowball) 5-7 elbows per hole, of high grade medicine annually. thats how i look a dirt. people say overkill!! overkil!!! but that same mountain of dirt is gonna be pumping out high grade for years to come.

if i have made you defensive for some reason i apologize. just trying to engage in useful discussion, peace.

not at all brother....no defensive energy what-so-ever....and i do not think that your scene is overkill at all........the way i look at it, the reality is, 98% of all growers in the states can't do what you do because of law/logistics etc.....i want to develop a method for the average person trying to supply their own meds, i really like the thought of high yielding, h2o only, small sized patio plants for patients......and remember, not all disibilities are physical....

My Qrazytrain a day after her transplant into the ground......i think she is going to be fine, perking up, and looking good....hoping she darkens up one more shade in a day or two...now it is just a matter of keeping the mold out of her dense flowers...:leaf:
