Everything is a learning experience, no matter how experienced you are. I've learned more about growing from my mistakes than anything else. Long story short, if you get what you want out of your crop and like your approach, then it is what it is. Still gonna follow along, even though I don't follow your methodology...I'm interested in seeing how your lady turns out! Good luck, excited to see pics on friday!

Hey, sorry. I didn't mean to come across as
defensive, It is just the way I sounded. What I meant to say was, I find that when I cut off leaves early in vegetation it helps overall growth and then they grow new leaves back because they were cut off so early in veg. But anyways yes to each there own. Also I didn't mention that my indoor grow ladies always get trimmed of it's leaves. My outdoor's I leave 100% alone. So don't worry lol. Cfl's aren't as bright as the sun so I trim. And it works. Outside the sun is penetrating the plant a lot. So I just leave it.

Also everyone just to let you know, I had no 5 gallon pots left over from last time. So it was sitting in a 1 gallon for 4 weeks. Just got busy with work and whatever else. I moved her into a 5 gallon 2 days ago. She is
small because like I said. It was under cfls from 5 feet away for 2 weeks. My brother was trying to help out while I was away. Yeah that didn't work out too well. That and she was root bound for 3 weeks probably. Now she is a little stressed but she is settling into her final home. I'll guesstimate that she will hit a growth spurt sometime this week. When I came home and fixed the lights to 5" away apposed to 5' away, she took off like crazy. Then she became rootbound as I forgot about her. But all is okay now. I will let her recover this week and continue on like normal.

Yea, that does sound like a slightly stressful ride for her, lol. Cannabis, in general, is a pretty hardy plant though, I'm sure she'll be recuperated soon enough.

Looking good man! Is she under 12/12, or is she still vegging?
No she is staying on 20/4 her whole life! She is an autoflower remember? And yeah she is starting to flower, I spotted some white hairs, aka pistils. So she is a flowering female! Went to homedepot and bought some 2700k red's and installed those. I was using 6 blue but now I am running my personal fav, mixed spectrum. 4 red 2 blue. The 2 blue in the middle, 4 red on the outside corners. In 3 weeks I will put the 4 red inside and the 2 blue on the corners. Reason being is that she is switching from veg to flower. Once she is in full flower mode I put the blue's on the outside.

Here are some changes I made this afternoon. I trimmed her up again, changed the lights, watered her with miracle grow, have been since I started this strain and she loves it like a women loves diamonds. Anyways she is doing very well now. She was very stressed before, but all is well now.

In the pics included in this post you can see some pistils emerging. YES!

Quick question. Will trimming that many fan leaves hurt the plant? I've read where some people say it is fine and others say don't do it. What about if you are already in flowering? I removed a few that were covering up a bunch of bud sites because I got tired of bending it down or trying to tuck it under another fan leaf. I rather go by someone else's experience than to find out on my own from trial and error. From what I read it seems the people in favor of trimming fan leaves usually do it the last week or 2 of flowering.

It is really a personal choice. You can cut them or leave them be. I personally have found in my own experiance with northern lights, you can cut the leaves off in veg and early flowering. Later than that and they won't grow back, now they don't grow in the same spot, all the surrounding area around that one leaf will grow more rapidly. So me personally, I let ber grow out a bit, I trim. It will let the branches grow. I know for a fact cutting off 30+ leaves willl not kill a plant. Look at mine. I have trimmed twice already and removed 50+ leaves. And there is still even more to grow. So all in all, it is your choice. But removing fan leaves will not hurt nor kill your plant. It can only help, I have pics showing so in this thread. Ps. Make sure a branch is established before removing the leaf below it. Also leaves on branches can be cut too.

Also to answer your original question. Removing some leaves won't hurt your plant if it is flowering. Never remove ALL leaves. I'd say 80% is good. Leaves are only there to parent new growth, once the growth surpasses a leaf, I cut it. It is no longer needed and is juat sucking up plant energy and growth, it is acting as a canopy, lower growth slows even halts. So screw it! Remove ones that are blocking growth or sunlight. Only ever remove leaves.

Hi there Op... I just stared a " Nirvana " Northern Lights grow myself in June. I have yet to post a journal figuring I would wait since seedlings are not that impressive to look at lol. I am into seven weeks of veg and am very impressed with the results so far.. I will be posting soon and also keeping an eye on this as well as I love to see how same strains and all do under different grow environments and methods ... Good Luck To You, Hopefully we will be smoking some good ol NL before we know it :bigjoint:

I started mine in june too. She went through a lot. More than what normally happens so yours will most definetly be bigger. And yeah make a journal, also you should have started from seedling. I think watching it go from seed to a plant with branches in 2 months is pretty cool!

Yeah you got a point there.. I was just hesitant about starting a journal until I was sure I was gonna get somewhere with it , my first time ever doing an indoor DWC so I wasnt expecting much at first but ended up being surprised lol. Btw I got my Journal up and started ( From 3 weeks to seven weeks ) present time. Posted the pics I took yesterday now just waiting a lil for some new updates
