So after years of always wanting to grow some fine herb, ive decided to make this come to light. Ive done alot of searching online and YouTube videos, forums , hightimes, i mean you name it . So i want to reach out to the community itself and ask some questions and get real feed back from the growers themselves. Some of my questions are has anyone seen or achieved massive yeilds from those black dog led lights, what the hell are these samsung strips im reading about and how well are they producing. Cob lighting vs led lighting witch is better. I need my grow to not smell what so ever so of coarse carbon filters but at what cfm for a 2x4x60 or 2x4x72 , also 2x4 is all i have to work with at the moment should i go tall or height now not a issue since led and cobs can be lower to the plants. My plan will be to grow a dwc and scrog . I have not bought any equipment yet because i wanna hear from everyone on how i can maximize my yeilds with my space. Nothing for me is set in stone other than i will not be using MH or HPS, im looking for super dense and super frosty nugs. I live in the bay area so for me this is legal and i want to produce some killer bud but i cant have my kids smelling it. Any and all advice is welcome please . Hopefully you guys and gals can help me out with some of my questions so i can start a grow journal and take you guys along for the process .

What makes you think you're going to get dense hard nugs? At all? All the dense hard nugs you've had before were all grown under LED? Be sure to use coco.

Not all. And you could be right maybe ill get some leafy soft nugs but my goal is dense hard nugs. Im doing this for personal use and hobby more than anything. As for led and cob lighting its essential for my bills. I already pay over 2500 for my apartment . If my light bill goes up 150 bucks thats fine. But anymore than that isnt worth it. So i figure cost effectiveness plays a big role in my grow for right now until i move

A real LED built by someone else that can do what you want? $1500. Forget the kiddy shit on Amazon.

What would you recommend for lighting ? Even if its hps i could go with it. My grow space is small so i wouldnt be throwing 1000 watt hps in it
If you want LED I would go that way but buy a good one. Timber, Kind or other quality high output.

315CMH will cover a 3' X 3' area and produce heavy bud. Or buy a dimmable 1000 or 600HPS.

I will be looking into those shortly. Im not so much worried about my cost to get it going i just want my cost of running the operation to stay at moderate costs compared to high costs

Hey, jumping in here but this last year i have been testing all types of LEDs, best yields and quality i have seen have come from the Black Dog LEDs. I have run all of the units now and for a small grow like this you could run the PM2-400 and get 1lb.
Also, if you want to xheck my credentials go to the gram. Im Tckcliff
If your going to go with an LED go with a BDL

Are black dog led really the way to go? I wanted to get one but the price tag . I will buy one if its honestly worth the yeild and quality. Have you ever ran one along side a hps

If you want HPS yields, you want an HPS light... you basically keep asking for ways to get HPS nugs... Bite the bullet man... 3x3 or 4x4 a 600w would be more than adequate...

If heats an issue, use a CMH instead...

Anything else is for experienced growers with a handle on their grow looking to improve... A good led/cob setup is gonna be a custom self built system, and cost closer to 4 digits.... High end high output quality LEDs are are still not cheap enough to be mainstream... just a lot of companies looking to rip people off, talking about lumens, and equivalent wattage..... just numbers...

Unlike most people responding to you, i actually test a ton of different equipment in multiple facilities (advantage of consulting for years). To answer your question, the bdl is the way to go. I havent got on this forum in years and jumped on tonight for some reason, but hit me up on instagram, where you can see results not words.

Since I’ve been growing I have been trying to offset the costs so I have my kids do light checks (run around the house turning off lights in rooms with nobody in them) also I use my blinds during the day and only use the lights at night (try to). That has almost kept my bill the same

You mentioned you didn't want the kids smelling them. You're gonna need a good ventilation system with carbon filters to have any hope. Plants in flower tend to get really smelly when the lights go off, a "green" kind of smell. I have a decent but not great ventilation system and you can smell them in that end of the house at lights out for a little while. There are some strains that don't smell as much, but you'll have to do some research as I haven't grown any. Add in the natural curiosity of kids and I'm not optimistic about your chances of them not smelling or finding it. Good luck and great growing!

I already do that. I was raised that way . My mom didnt make a whole lot growing up so we had to open the blinds and mostly play outside. And at night only use the lamp and not the switch lol. Made no sense then but now it does!!

Thanks bro! I actually started a grow journal and got a bunch of things set up. The wife has been letting me get more and more into it as I also got her involved. Go check it out if you get the chance.
