dsb,
You have the very basics. Now to learn.
Spend a few minutes going through the forum. Read the stickies at the top. Use the search to learn more about lights, soil, nutrients, and air temp and humidity. Use the info you learn to answer some basic questions.

Where are you growing? Closet? Tent? Outside? Once you figure that out, learn about issues that are most important to that type of growing. Closet issues may be heat, air flow, etc. Outside issues may include nutrients and pests.

How are you growing. Sounds like soil. Might be best for beginners because it's slower. You have more time to correct problems.

What are you growing. Sativea? Indica? Photo, Fem or Auto? Learn about the strain, it will help a lot. Sats take a lot longer generally.

My opinion is to grow your first plants without using too many "tricks". Learn to grow the plant first, then learn to grow it better.

There is an amazing amount of info on this site. You will have to sift out what you want to learn.

Welcome to the forum and good luck growing this wonderful plant.

get into it!

Dont over love your plants. Dont over water your plants,

Temp in the grow area is critical.

Have the lights as close as you can to the CFL- but to close will burn her!. "tis an important juggle that you will get to know".

Read. read, read, read.

If you have soil, seed and light, simply mix them all up and add some water (:

As she grows you can get on with the research side, and any problems that rise; you can hit us all up here.
Honestly, having a little seedling poking it's head out of the soil get's a dude cracking on with research ;-)

Not really.

You will learn more with Photo period plants. You will get to see and experience the diff stages. You will have more control of the plant size, structure and length of veg.

Im new to CFL as well. I do grow outside but thought id give a micro stealth fridge grow a go. (130W) Plants have been in seedling stage about 2 weeks,. Im also using soil but with a SIP pot.

Keep the CFL within a few inches of your plant and start a scrog and you'll be pleased with the results.
