u want to go cheap with 5 plants? 5 plants grows bigger that u can immagine.

i recomend you to grow 2 plants, maximum 3 with 3x20w CFLs on each plant.

if you really low on budget you can use 2x20w on each plant.

Eh, excuse me? Who are you to tell me that my effort is going to go to waste, I'm sure once my step dad sees that I'm capable of growing marijuana, he'll get me the lights I need.

I don't know if you're in a bad mood, but I just found this place and already I'm getting flamed? Chillax a bit, this is more of an experiment for me. They say you learn more from doing than from reading so this will be a good lesson for me. Something may go wrong, but it's one more thing I'll be prepared for in the future. I'll be happy if any of them last a couple of months so please take your negative vibes somewhere else, no disrespect.

Nemad, I'm only growing 3 plants and don't expect to grow them to large before maturity considering how they'll probably double in size, so I'll probably get either 3-5 42 watt CFL's or 6-8x 26 watt 2600k CFL's.

thats true about the learning. i learned the hard way. from experiance....i ran 4-26 watt daylight spectrum cfl's over 3 plants. that lasts you about 3-4 weeks into veg. then you'll be bumpin up to either a few 42's, or be smart and invest in a 85 watt cfl in the first place...prefferably 2.

so ideally. go with two 85 watt-daylight spectrum (6700k) for veg, and a high pressure sodium for flower. you can get cheap ones in hardware store's (security lights) or order one online. honestly, you'll all be happier and more impressed with the bud's if you just shell out for the hps. (sorry bout bein a jerk in the last post.)

Really? Well, that's a relief. You see, I've been hearing different things like taking like 2 months for the vegetative stage and like 3 months for the flowering. Although I was probably high, so.... Anyways, thanks for the help and direction.

So you're saying I should cover my walls with Aluminum Foil? My closet walls are already bright white, but if you think it'll help a lot with the CFL's then I'll put the time into it. Although, supposedly there's a specific side you want facing the plants and the other facing the wall. Take a look at my journal too see my crappy setup for now. I'll put the link in my sig.

its individually. you should decide by yourself wich one you like better.

perosnaly i dont believe that white color can reflect light better than mirror (foil)

who the fuck only flowers for one month?
many people here, just read threats and posts. afcorse you can flower up to 2 months for bigger buds.

but if you dont have lights strong enough, process can stop at ~ one month and they will not grow any bigger.

Mykul916, it's all good. Anyways, my step dad says that we'll talk about the flowering stage when it comes around. He doesn't want to go spend money on an HPS when he's not sure I can even get the plants to live that long.

Again, today I'm going to Home Depot and will take my time looking at all of their fluorescent lights and decide on what mix of watts I'm going to get based on how much my mom is willing to spend. I'm going to try and go for those two 85-watt Daylight bulbs, as I'd rather just work with two light bulbs then 6-8. Thanks you guys for all of your help. If you guys want to keep updated or talk, let's do it in my journal in my sig.

if your strapped for cash just veg for a month.
No foil!!!!!!!! Bright white is perfect!!! unless you get mylar.

its individually. you should decide by yourself wich one you like better.

True/False Foil reflect light and heat.....for what you are doing the paint is straight!

Look on the box for a color temp of 6500k that is blue.
The red/orange ones are a temp of below 3500k i believe. You'll find them in 2100k which is great!

I look at it this way........If your pops is going to get you shit, you need to impress him! Do it right and then get the good shit!

5 plants is a little ambitious in a closet with limited money. 2-3 really is more where you wanna be! I have three and they are enormous...one is 22" x 20"........and its only day 3 of flowering!

I'm coming ot the journal!!!

I looked at a home depot in nj last week. I really am interested in T5 fluorescents. they're the really thin bulbs. I guess they're supposed to be much brighter then other kinds. I'd like to get 8 bulbs side by side. well, an hour of looking came up empty handed. they had a stock pile of T5 bulbs but no fixtures! please let me know what you find and deside on. my final setup will be a 400 watt HPS, when I get to that point.

for getting seeds and clones rooted, I put together a fixture myself. piece of 2x4 with 4 cfl's. I got the ones you said about in the 2 pack. they're 1600 lumens each, 100 watts equivalent light, 26 watts of power each, 6500k color.

SNiPerXP, you're generally good with computers, me too. do you also tend to overly complicate projects? why not hook everything in the grow room up to a computer to monitor and control every aspect of the grow. I'm either gonna end up with a perfectly computer automated tweeked room, or I'll go down in flames of doom. either way, will be fun! :peace:

Well, my final setup should be this:

For the Germination and Vegetation it's will probably look something like this:
4x 26 watt, Cool White, 6500k color bulbs. If needed, I'll probably get like two more to hang on the sides.

For Flowering:
Adding 2x 42 watt, Warm/Bright White, 2500k color bulbs.

Hopefully this should do... also, do I need multiple types of nutrient food cause I have this food that's 24-8-16 and it just dissolves in the water. I'm going to start giving the plants it every other watering once they've go a few leaves.

I'm using the set of floragro, floramicro, and florabloom. you mix different amounts for different stages of the grow, then use a ph tester to keep it perfect or the plants wont be able to absorb the nutes.
Flora Series - FloraGro Hydroponic Nutrient

4x 26 watt cfl's might be ok for 1 or 2 plants vegging, but more light is always better. can't skimp on lighting or you'll regret it in the end. for flowering, I think a good general rule of thumb is double the light. you're going for the right color bulbs which is good, but it's easy for a noob to underestimate the amount of light the plants need to do their best.
