i bought two 1000w BESTVIA led panels on amazon, but after reading on here everyone was bashing them, because they only draw 185w from the wall so the 2000w of led power i had was really only 385.i have them set to be returned. i wanted to grow 10 plants, but by reading every ones opinion on them everyone said they were crap and a waste of money, china made garbage. now i am confused. are they crap? or not? i bought a 600w hid system instead. not sure what to do now. i want to grow the 10 plants, scrog, very small area 5 x 3.

You right for returning those Chinese panels. At best you would be able to grow one plant under each. You better off going with the HID's in that case. Most of the people here are using COB's and there are a few vendors that can help you out. What is your budget for lighting?

They're not crap. Just a lie. Why advertise something that's 185 watt as a 1000???

If they hadn't lied. You'd be growing 10 plants by now. But nope, you got 385 watts when you thought you were buying 2000.

For 10 plants you need a 1000 watt HID. Or two 600. A single 600 can support 6-8 plants depending on how big you grow them.

Definitely not enough juice for that area. Though 10 plants in that space seems like a lot. If you want to run a scrog, maybe cut your plant count in half. If you really want to run 10 plants, maybe try sog instead.

Ok so if go 5 or 6 plants, longer veg under scrog, could I yield the same amount I would with 10 plants with a shorter veg? I have grown before so its not my first rodeo, but was using cfl's before and only grew a 1 or two plants a time. Looking for a end result of at least 16oz. My strain is strawberry kush, fem seeds, 3 gallon grow bags, but if I go only 5-6 plants i could use 5 gallon bags, fox farm nutes. also with strawberry kush (indica strain) would do well in a sog enviroment, i think anyway.

also why couldnt a 600w be sufficient for 10 plants? 50 watts per plant i thought was the sweet spot? if i would go the SOG method and to a 4 week veg than flip it i wonder kind of yields i can expect with 10 plants, assuming my nutes are on par and everything is calculated decently. i would love to clone the 10 plants, but unfortunately i dont have the space for a veg only room.

"per plant" isnt really an accurate measure because they can be all sizes

that 600 will do ok for your 5x3 if you hang it high enough to get uniform coverage out to the 5'. try the reflector in both directions ill bet if you align the bulb parallel to the 3' wall it will throw better

I was referring to the LEDs, the HPS will put you at about 40w per sq. foot, which is good, but like Cobby said, it will struggle to adequately cover the far ends. Personally, I would do 2 rows of 5 cobs on 4 ft. bars at about 70w each. Will give you plenty of light for flower, and you can always dim when you don't need all that juice.

Oorrrr....

20-25 4 ft. Bridgelux EB strips. At 700ma that will get you 600-750w but your coverage will be almost perfectly uniform, like sunlight.

What if I do just 5 in scrog method? Bring it down to 4x3. Also if I do a sealed room, and use hid, I do not need to run the cool tube considering I will have ac, correct? I can't do a passive system with the ac because the air outside the shed is in the mid 80's and the ac will never turn off.

Or do I use the ac with a passive intake and exhaust the lights with the cool tube. So confused. The issue is the outside air is hot. Ac would be a window unit

Just don't know how to use a passive intake system when outside the shed the temps are mid 80's at best at the very bottom of the shed, South Florida summer temps not fun. And if I am using. 440cfm fan for 6x4x6 total grow space it will replace that air very fast with hot air from outside coming in the passive intakes, which means the AC will never turn off. It will constantly have to keep the air cool. The best Idea I have is to run lights at night, but with the cool tube the lights should have a decent amount of cooling, it's the outside passive air coming in that's my problem.

How do I hook those up? They not plug and play? What's involved?
Never mind a lot more Work involved did some digging on Those. Really looking for a plug and play application. Thats why those stupid led panels got me excited, stupid proof, plug them in and go.

Calculated it to cost me $58 a month if the ac ran for 24hrs straight. Which really isn't bad at all. 5000 btu to cool 25sqft shed isn't that bad
