nanner situation. what to do?

Hi there fellow growers,

first of all, a quick summary of my current grow:

3x Northern Lights (Nirvana), 3x The Ultimate (Dutch Passion)
All NL plants are doing just great. 1 of The Ultimate plants is doing just great.
The other 2 Ultimate plants have been a bit stressed (they grew mega tall and I had some nute issues which have been fixed as well as i could) and yesterday I discovered a nanner on one of them, today a nanner on the other. I removed the nanners carefully with tweezers and they did not pop.
All plants have very decent buds and if it wasn't for these nanners I was heading for an awesome harvest.
I am almost 6 weeks into flower, so 2-3 weeks til harvest.

I have spent the last couple hours reading up about nanners and sometimes ppl say chop the whole plant/remove the plant, sometimes ppl say pick off the nanners til harvest. I am tending towards the latter.

I am a vigilant grower and I am fortunate enough to have the time to check my plants many times daily. I also have a magnifying glass and a steady hand.

I haven't had any weed to smoke for a while now and I want to get everything I can out of this grow. Also I really really want to try the Ultimate since it's a new strain and so little info available from experienced growers about this strain.

The real question I guess here is: is there a possibility that these nanners will ruin my entire crop? or can I go with picking them off until harvest?

What would you guys do in my situation?
Thanks in advance for your input,
Peace!

I can only say that through reading threads here and at other forums that I would be doing exactly the same thing you are doing. This is my third grow. I keep a clean set up, you know. Right now as you are aware I am having problems with my grow. Weird stuff. How is it that fan leaves or what looks exactly like fan leaves would grow out of the sex site? See, I also have two reg. seed plants, ak 47 that are female! YEAH! So, I guess as long as I am not seeing pollen sacks then I am ok? A terrible tragedy would be my for sure sensi becoming crud.

That would indeed be tragic. Could I ask that you please keep comments pertaining to YOUR grow (the thread "Is this hermied" right?) in your own thread. I was hoping to get some educated answers to MY situation in this thread. Thanks a lot buddy and I hope u get a female there.

I'd let them go that way you would have more seeds of that ultimate when its done.
sorry for short answer malicifice and thanks for your reply - do you mean continue with picking off nanners and I will get seeds no matter what? have you had any experiences with nanners?

If you don't need the seeds pluck those nanners out. You will probably still get some seeds not like if you left the nanners to go though. I have had them before but it happened at the end of the line for them. I would see like one or two a few days before harvest but never worried about them as they wouldn't have enough time to really do anything. If you only have a few weeks left you can just pluck them off, even if you only get half of them there probably isn't that much time for them to screw you over too bad. In my experience seeds take around a month to mature.

pluck the nanners with tweezers and shut off your fans. you may get a seed here and there but you'll be ok. try to figure out what caused them and eliminate it. some kind of stress, a light leak or maybe just a genetic trait of that strain. I have some Chem Dawgs that just popped nanners in week six. apparently it is just bred into them and an unfortunate consequence of a high yielding good strain. i went ahead and hit them with some reverse and plucked all the nanners I saw. look at them daily. fewer nanners equals fewer seeds. shutting off the fans prevents blowing any pollen around should they mature.

Nah I don't need the seeds, have 2 clones of the strain waiting in veg room for next grow... it was stress for sure, i didn't feed these plants any nutrients for first 4 weeks of flower and they suffered from that. So I know better what to do in next grow with this strain. I guess it might be genetic anyway but next grow I will know for sure...

But this is encouraging news thanks Mali and Oscar. It will be some daily work but I do want to carry these gals thru to harvest so if that's what it takes that's what I will do :)

Thanks guys for ur input :)

Just pick them of like said with the fan off. Check every day especial the bottom of the plant . You'll be fine you shouldn't get seeds at all as long as you catch all the nanners. You'll still get a great harvest. Good luck!

U gota let em grow either way if they do get seeded the buds will stop growing in size but u still want mature bud if u pulled early u get seedy unmature buds if the nanas r at end say last 2 weeks of budding I wouldn't even worry they will not have enough time to mature into full seeds from my experiance and what I have read a lot of plants will try to flower up in last few weeks

little update. the situation seems to be under control. Pulled 2 nanners off each affected plant yesterday and only found 1 nanner in total today. They are fairly easy to spot so unless there are some that are hidden right inside the bud it seems to be a totally manageable problem so far. I feel that the rest of my plants and my incoming harvest are safe :)

I got a bit worried when I spotted the first one but I guess all is well. Buds seem to be continuing to swell.

Thanks for your advice and reassurances guys :)
