My new STEALTH rubbermaid grow. t5 + 150HPS

Just completed my new rubbermaid grow cab. Two rubbermaids stacked together and light proofed with black duct tape and reflective material. I currently have a 4 bulb T5 HO 24" light fixture in there. Once flowering starts I'm going to mount it on the side of the cab to help with side-lighting. I'll have my 150w HPS in there as well.
I have a large PC fan sucking air out up top and a couple of passive intake vents on the bottom sucking cool air in. I can put my hand over the passive vents and feel them sucking air, so I know I have a good amount of negative pressure in the cab.
5 clones total. green crack, OG kush, grapefruit haze, gromulan (grapefruit x romulan, shaman), C-99.
Probably going to explore using LST.
Comments questions and concerns all appreciated.
Thanks for looking.

very stealthy indeed. clones take a week or two to form roots. did you get clones with roots? or clones that were just cut?

I switched to my 150w HPS for veg. Also started to LST (I know its a little late... but I have space restrictions). Growth is still really slow...
I'm growing in foxfarm ocean soil in 2 gallon containers. Maybe temps are too high? I'm at about 88 degrees max during the day

Anyone have any opinions on whether I should keep using my 150w HPS for veg, or should I go back to my 4 bulb T5 fixture? Suggestions appreciated.

I'd say use the t5. Only bc veg needs blue light and hps is mainly red and orange. What's your ph? Mabe u have nute lock? Just my .02

I would go back to the T5....I started my grow in rubbermaids with cfl's for veg....U should wait and use the 150 for flower....Have some patience, they r going to take off on you.....Happy growing.....

So I switched back to my T5 a few days ago. I have been battling spider mites. Little bastards. I just sprayed some floramite on them... hopefully that does the trick. Also continued the LSTDSC01618.jpg

Your HPS is ok for Vegging. I am using a 150 HPS for veggin my short riders right now. Started it probably when they were 2 weeks old. I was going to stagger the CFLs with the HPS, but feck that, that was getting old fast. So now I just use the HPS it has a glass window over it which keeps a lil heat in away from the plants, but my box gets as hot as 95 degrees sometimes. Im really not that bent out of shape by it though, they're growing and aren't showing signs of too much heat, yet, plus theres pretty good air exchange goin on there. I'd say the only difference is they grow really branchy, but that may just be the short riders. How do you have such low heat with that hps in that small of space?

I have two, 4" fans for my exhaust and couple of passive intake vents that are smaller than 4". Sizing the passive intake holes smaller than the exhaust ports is important as it creates negative pressure (if everything else is sealed up nicely). Its important to have negative pressure in small spaces as it promotes good airflow.
You are probably going to run into issue eventually with those high temps. What are you using for exhaust?

I was just using 2 small fans for intake with HEPA filter on them, so I don't introduce any more mold spores or bullshit thats not already there..... then I have one big 4" inline airduct booster, shooting the air out through the top, but my setup is continously changing.

What issue could those high temps affect?

You are definitely going to want to get those temps down before flowering. High temps are going to stunt growth and reduce your yield. What is your humidity at? If its too high you could also run into mold issue during flowering.

I've found the biggest issue with temps is ambient temp. I had a 2x2x4 cab with a 250cfm fan and it wouldnt drop the temp under 85.. Well my ambient (room temp) was like 77-78.. Had to get an AC for the room and keep it at 70-71.

As for spider mites get a Hot Shot No Pest Strip. It's perfect for small grows and knocks em out good.

Very true. My ambient temps are around 78 also. I'll probably run the AC once the temps start to climb for the summer.

Since I sleep about 2 feet from the grow cab, I'm extremely concerned about using synthetic pesticides. I actually found some stuff called Floramite, which is a natural pesticide. I sprayed them a few days ago and I have yet to see any of the little bastards.

Thanks for stopping by
