My Buddies Plants aren't Flowering

Hey guys I need help trying to diagnose my friends problem, but since Im not the most experienced grower ever I can't seem to figure it out. And he's such a paranoid freak he won't let me take picture or just join the forum himself.

But basically he's a week and half into flowering and his plants just aren't well, flowering. There exploding in growth rate with tons of side branches and new nodes forming daily, but their still not sexing or producing any smell. He uses a similar setup to me so I know it works but I can't figure out why its not working for him. He's got 7 plants under 8 2700K CFL's in a 2' x 2' tent that he let stretch waaaay to much. I told him I think the problem is that he has to many plants in such a small area but he refuses to cull any based on my opinion alone. I checked for light leaks and there appears to be none, and he's using a perlite/ peat moss mix with FF nutes.

I told him to wait a week and see and if they're still like this to kill 3 of the weakest looking ones and continue on, but Im not sure if thats right. And when I say theres no light leaks, his door to the tent is really ghetto, just a flap hanging over, but its in an enclosed closet, and when I went into the closet and shut all the lights off it was pitch black, so I dunno.

Thanks for your help guys.

Mine are 3 weeks into flower and only a few hair. It depends on what your growing. The commercial reggs i have been growing has a 12 to 16 week flowering time, mostly.

The plant will start showing signs of flower, tell him to be patient.

did you wait to flower once the preflowers set on? any case some genetics take a few to show signs of flowering. they will stretch and grow and then "start" to flower. hang in there

more sativas can take up to twice as long, or more, to begin flowering.

but 2 weeks is fairly common for indica, 1.5 weeks is nothing to worry about, (also if he started flowering before maturity, alternating nodes, then they will be slower to flower as well.)

but this is very strain specific.
