Moving Box A21 Grow - Dank Schrader

Hey all, I introd myself the other day but thought I would post my setup and a bit about my little stealth grow.

I have a few years under my belt but wanted to try something different in the stealth realm!

This setup is comprised of two large moving boxes that are stacked to give me a little more headroom for the light. The boxes measure 18"x18"x24", but my overall interior height is approximately 40".

I have only ever grown hydro, so that is what I stuck with. I know it's not ideal for all stealth situations, but I think that I've come up with a decent enough rig. I am using a pump to two air stones in a 3gal bucket. Water levels is usually at 2gal. Medium is a Rapid Rooter in hydrostones.

I had some pH issues for the first 4 days, but she is on day 6 now, and looking much better.

My light setup is made up of 7 x 16w Philips LED (A21 size), screwed in to a JackyLED 7 way splitter. The splitter has individually adjustable heads for each bulb, which will really come in handy with light control in flowering. Maybe?

Nutrients and water: tap, because it's free, unfortunately my tap water is sitting around 9, so I have to add 4 drops of pH down for gallon. Nutrients I tend to stick with GH Trio, I do a custom tea later on, but nothing else until flower when I do some boosters. I find less is more here. Environment has always been more important than nutrients, to me.

Intake is inactive 5", exhaust is a 5" USB fan mounted to a 4"-3" downer. Environment is kept at 70-75°F and 45-50% humidity. Lights are on 24/7 at the moment. I will only do a short veg to keep the plant small.

Here are some quick details:

Seed: Dank Schrader
Setup: Hydro - Bubbleponics
Light: 112w LED (7x16w 2700-3000K)
Box: 18x18x40" lined with Panda Film
Nutrients: GH Trio
Medium: Rapid Rooter w/hydrostones

More about the light: I wasn't sure what to expect, as I had not pulled one of these apart before. I was pleasantly surprised to see that 7 of these puppies are putting out 50000-60000 lux at 15". I think, lots for one plant. The benefit of being able to maneuver each one is huge, too. I have 3 x 3000K bulbs and 4 x 2700K, we I figured I would be doing a short veg, I would benefit more from the warmer bulbs. I may look into some 660nm strips for flowering in the future, if this isn't enough light.

The cost has been fairly minimal, as I owned the majority of the items. The light was the most expensive part, coming in at $48 total.

Once I can figure out pictures on here, I will post a few up, and a few more every few days if there is interest.

Cheers!

A small board would probably provide more light than those bulbs.
Plenty of better lighting options than what you got going on but they will work for a bit.
Good luck with whatever you choose

Thanks!

Just curious, what would be your choice for the ultimate 18x18" single plant light?

I am not the one to be asking. Never used a board, but its pretty obvious that they work from pics around here.
I have used cobs, and a homemade board. Both worked well. Used the boards in my minigrow and cobs in my tent. Both did well enough for me.
In an 18x18 a board may be your most even effective choice. 100w, give or take, would do the job.

Im talking Quantum board whites or any equivalent. Blurples are obsolete

Yes, I have been looking to do a 100w QB in the new year. Probably by the time she is ready for flower.

I am going to manifold and keep a nice flat 1x1 square of buds, hopefully.

Just a quick update.

DAY 8:

I changed out the center bulb yesterday for a 5000K for better veg spectrum.

Roots started to reach out if the bottom last night, so she should start to really take hold this week. :D

Another quick update. Upped nutes to veg levels today. Stems are a little red, but it looks like it is starting to clear up.

Roots are starting to really come in nicely so she should have a growth spurt this week. I am only doing a two week veg.
Take advantage of what veg time you can. That plant will be vegging for 4 or 5 weeks regardless of what you do with the lights.

Another quick update. I changed the air pump out for a more powerful 4W, and getting better o2 to the roots. They have really exploded now. I also upped the nutes to vegetative week 2 levels with today's water change.

I will be FIMing her once that third node is reachable in a day or two.

I am always amazed at how incredibly fast this setup grows. These two pics are a day apart (yesterday to today):

Back with another one! I was away for a couple of days due to Christmas, and come back to see her recuperating quote nicely. A little deficiency going on I think, not sure what it is.

My tap water is high pH (9.2) and very soft. I adjusted this week's water with a half tsp of CalMag, we will see if that helps.

Aside from the small deficiency, seems to be doing well, roots are very white to clear and lots of main stems producing. As you can see, I fucked up the FIM, I caught two lower fan leaves on my miss, which may cost me...

I have started to train her as well, to see if I can keep a nice flat canopy. The plan is to do a spiral around the bucket as it grows. I have used this method of training on the past and yielded decent results.

Does your temp/humidity meter frown when things aren't right where you want them?
Thanks for question. I assume you asked because of the huge variance of temp/humidity in the pics? If so, the reason why this is happening is because it is virtually a sealed system, and very small. The minute I open the door for a bit, the temp and humidity are affected greatly. This is one of the downsides of micro setups.

When the door is closed my temps/humidity are:

Water: 17-21°C
Air: 21-25°
Humidity: 45-60%

At Christmas the humidifier ran dry so she dropped to 22% for a day. It didn't like they are all I think.

If I'm honest, as cool as I thought the setup would be, because it's so hard to control a consistency in the environment I have opted to put everything into my 3x3 tent. I am just assembling now. Stand by for update after I migrate her into it.
