Cfl's work fine for veg but you will never yeild anything near a plants potential if you use them for flower

well jonnyquest its only a 2ftx2ftx2ft grow tent i dont think putting an HPS would be a great idea because it would probably get wayy to hot dont you think? unless u know otherwise... I was thinking about using LED instead since they are alot cooler then both HPS and CFL but still debating on it.

Hey there, I'm growing in a 2x2x5. A high wattage CFL can do well in your little cube but you'll to LST your plant. If you can tie your plant down to expose and keep even the canopy as much as possible and keep your CFL's within 1-3 inches of your plant you can produce some yield. A scrog set up would be optimal for the CFL. If you can get your hands on a super high wattage CFL you can do decently. I have a single 125W CFL that can make a nice short bushy plant and I can even flower under it. If you're considering LED though you'll need do some research and get the right ones. In such a confined space to powerful of an LED could harm your plant as much as an HPS could being so close. Good luck.

have you considered PL-L lights for that grow space like these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-T5-FLUORESCENT-GROW-LIGHT-110-watt-TEK-FLORO-w-VEG-bulbs-24-hydroponic-cfl-/120841968576?hash=item1c22be1bc0:g:yOcAAOSwWKtUvX3l I use this type of light in a 2ft by 2 ft vegging closet and have used them for flowering for 2 years before setting up a larger flowering closet using a standard 4 bulb T5HO fixture and they were giving me 0.7 GPW in flowering. the bulbs lasted 1 1/2 years of continuous use and were cheap to replace https://www.1000bulbs.com/category/55-watt-4-pin-2g11-plug-in-compact-fluorescents/. much cheaper than LEDs more effiecient and cooler than CFLs. these girls have been flowering for 7 weeks and have about 2 more weeks to go.I am a small PU MMJ grower on a tight budget and HIDs produce too much heat for a closet grow unless you want to put holes in your walls for a duct and blower. cheap Chinese LEDs are less effiecient (more heat) than CFLs and high end LEDs are too expensive for a non-profit PU grower. just some thoughts for your consideration.those 2G11 CFLs (pl-l 55) bulbs are more effiecient than 2 ft T5HOs so will produce more light and less heat.6500k work great for vegging but a 6500k/3000k mixed spectrum works better for flowering

Should have got some 2ft t5 flourescents if you wanted a decent flowering light for a small space with low height and low heat....

i'm growing super silver haze. this strain works best for my medical problems and for my friend who has been fighting cancer for 6 years and is allergic to opiate based pain medication. I grow in soil that a mix of peat moss compost and perlite. this crop is in 3 gallon plastic pots but for the next crop I am switching to 5 gallon fabric pots. I use miracle grow plant food and bloom for vegging and flowering. I veg for 5 weeks under 2 55 watt 6500k 2G11 bulbs using plusrite ballast and topping the plants once and flower under a 4ft 4 bulb T5HO light using 2 6500k (1) 3000k and (1) roseate bulb. I can flower 3 plants in a 2ft by 4 ft by 8ft closet.I build my own lights so this is an inexpensive grow. it generates about 2 1/2 ounces per month which I make into extracts for myself and my friend.this strain if very tasty and very strong so a little goes a long way for treating medical problems. we are both older individuals and are not stoners. it just happens that this medicine works better than prescription drugs for us. the link for bulbs I included sell commercial grade bulbs that are very high quality and low price. . I got my roseate bulbs here http://www.ebay.com/itm/261229975287?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=560206106309&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT hope this helps. the pictures are of my DIY T5HO fixture

you can get smd led bulbs with the same kinda fittings as the cfl`s have, 50w to 100w smd leds can give a lot of light

but cob units normally do a bit better but cost a bit more

they also make 40w induction bulbs maybe some bigger with e27 and BC bulb ends, induction lamps I find around 2x better than cfls like a 40w induction seems to match an 80 to 100w cfl

but 20w to 150w cmh bulbs can be used for micro grows too

no its not equivalent its just 150wat i was thinking about adding my other 42 wat CFL along with a couple 23 wat depending on the space i have... this isnt my first grow ive used CFLs plenty of times and they worked pretty good.
23 watt CFLs are great because you can put them basically anywhere you want if you're creative. I'd snag a few more if I were you.

Until I have a proper tent and an LED, filters and all that fun stuff this is better than nothing: cost next to nothing to start: pick are in day 51 after switching to 12/12. 148 watts of 2,700k CFL in a 2.5 sqaure foot box.
Wow those are some nice buds you are going to have there my friend. Really frosty nugs. Your setup is dope bro i Dig it Why kind of nutrients are you using for those ladies u got there ?

Thank you. Through veg I didn't add any nutrients as I was using Burpee Organics Potting mix which has a small amount of organic nuts much like Fox Farm soils. At 5 weeks switched to flowering and have been feeding FF Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom at half recommended strength on the bottle. I did get a little nute burn a week ago so she's been getting nothing but plain water after I did a heavy flush. Believe it or not its from a bag seed of some unkown dank.
