marihuana clones VS tomato clones

Hi there,

I built a dwc cloner a few weeks ago and I'm getting some weird results with it. Why is my tomato clone rooting much better than my marihuana clone ?

This is my marihuana clone, started rooting after 21 days and today is day 27:



This is a tomato clone, started rooting after 6 days and today is day 8:

Did you take the clones from the same part of the plant? The lower branches clone easier due to the distribution of hormones.

i remember reading once somewhere that the roots of tomato plants grow a lot faster then the plant itself. you get more roots.
so this may be normal.. it may just be the roots working normal. they are different from marijuana plants.

As you know the plants are different so any comparison is pointless ..... but, i agree you should have a lot more growth for a one month dwc cannabis clone. Ive done DWC a couple of times and this is what I think:

Now theyve started rooting, hopefully they will explode with new roots growth and shoul be ok. 21 days seems too long for them to start rooting. This is what I would do next time , if youre not doing it already.

1.Use 1" rockwool cubes or similar to hold the clones when you start. ... if not using a rooting hormone,DO. Water daily with nutrients by hand until you see the cubes rooting like mad though the cube
2. Insert said Clones in the rockwool into a netted pot with packed with hydrotron clay pebbles. put nett pots in your DWC system and until you see the roots hanging through the pots and into the solution below continue to water from above.
3. Every couple of days or so, check that the rapidly growing roots are hanging no more than an inch into the solution by reducing nutrient/water level as necessary.

It's because tomatoes are the easiest plant in the world to clone. Cut a branch off a tomato plant, shove it in pot of good wet soil, and it will root and keep growing.

That's what I wanted to know, coz I keep reading how easy is to grow mj because is a weed but comparing the cloning process with tomato seems to be more difficult

A common misconception, Weeds are no different from any other plant. The term weed is just the word we use to describe any plant that has grown in an undesirable place. Many common flowers I plant in my garden are considered 'weeds' in their original habitat just because they grow naturally wild and people dont want them there. So, there is no genetic description for a weed and even a tomato plant could be considered a weed in certain situations.
