Malpropism: noun
an act or habit of misusing words ridiculously, especially by the confusion of words that are similar in sound.

When I was a kid, this other kid that I hung around with used to say 'jet proportion' rather than jet propulsion.
Everybody probably knows at least one person that mispronounces Alzheimer's as 'all timers'
My cousin used to think that the Stevie Wonder song "You Can Feel it All Over" was called 'Milk and Spirits All Over'
The Sopranos was notorious for the intentional use of malpropisms. A few of my favorites are..
  • Christopher telling a studying cousin Tony to "Keep your eye on the tiger"
  • Little Carmine referring to the symbolism used in the movie 'Cleaver' as "The sacred and the propane"
  • Paulie referring to the Russian that he and Christopher took out to the Pine Barrens: “He killed 16 Czechoslovakians, he was an interior decorator.”

Whatchoo got?

At the very least, I was hoping that at least one person would have noticed my intentional misspelling of the word malapropism.

My father wasn't the most gentle man in the world. As kids, he'd shout a command to me and/or my siblings and he'd follow it with an "On the double!" What I heard him say was "I'm the devil!" ..Needless to say, I got things done.

Despite having been corrected a few times, my mother still refers to a lap top computer as a lab top.

I suppose the king of TV malapropisms would have to be In Living Color's Oswald Bates

Well hate to say this it wasn’t a quote but still gives me the giggles after all these years...an old girlfriend and I were stoned one night and she looked up at the moon and said “do you think that it’s the same moon they would see on America?”
Needless to say she was an “ex”....and that was the moment

Could she have possibly meant.. "Is this the same view of the moon that they have in America?"
