LED vs Quantum boards inside my tent

how the fuck big is a tent that needs 8 HLG550s?

All I know is Quantum boards perform really well and I don't know of anyone using black dog or kind in the led section here.
Last I looked a few years ago when I was going to build a black dog replica they were extremely expensive and don't outperform lights like HLG 550 which are half the price.

There are lots of folks using Quantum boards to see the real result, but if I had to pick out a couple of threads, see below..

swapped from my King Plus LED's to HLG 320 v2 never looking back. brighter lights, less energy wasted, not blurple, shit actually gets to the base of my fucking plants instead of just the top canopy. it was a King Plus 2000W vs HLG 320. the king plus worked but doesn't compare to the HLG and although it was double the price it was well worth the money imo.

Kind/ black dogs are legit leds, not like cheapo king leds, so the difference isn't nearly as big as hlg to king
I'd probably still go with the qbs, but not because the other 2 options are crap. They are actually decent products from what I've seen.

o_O Geezus Christ is it a tent or a whole room? 4 HLG 320 kits easily fill my 4x8.

Never used blurples only QB, but from what i've seen there isn't much outperforming QB especially in that price range.

I am going to either do a 10x20 tent or a 8x16 tent

I was planning on using each light over a 4x4 section inside the tent. So 8 lights inside either tent, with the 10x20 I would just have more room to move around in there. Now I am curious if I was doing 8 4x4s inside the tent would you recommend only 8 lights? Or would I have better results trying to cram more lights into it? Like if I threw an extra one in there and had them overlap a bit is that recommendable? Like instead of 4 lights over a 4x16 would you recommend 5 or 6 lights over a 4x16?

I am looking at the HLG 550s

I don't think it could hurt, would increase your watts per sq ft and should help yields a bit provided they aren't too close to the canopy. My lights overlap and I still intend on throwing 2 135 kits in there at some point for some supplemental lighting and I don't see any negative effects.

I would be happy with a 550 per 4x4. Your going to get overlap anyhow due to the beam angle.
I might even try and cover 4x4.5 per light if it were me.
I would go for the tent which allows you a good size walk way. Or you would not be able to use it very well.
