JV-86 Outdoor Nor Cal

First time posting in this forum. I can already say I've learned a lot from previewing other posts, but I thought I'd start one for my own grow. I transplanted 2 JV-86 clones today into 15 gallon pots. I will be using the foxfarms nutrients trio (Big Bloom, Grow Big and Tiger Bloom.) Has anybody grown this strand outdoors? It's a cross between Trainwreck and Shiva Skunk and have just recently learned that it won top prize in the 2011 4/20 Spring Bowl. (Thanks google) They're not much to look at now, but I've included a picture of one of the two.

Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for looking-

Started with 2 JV86 clones and a random seed. So far, one of the JV86 clones seems to be thriving, while one is struggling. The seed I found in some dodi awhile back seems to be doing pretty well. I simply planted it an inch or so under the soil and within a week it had fully sprouted. Pictures are included of all 3. Any feedback would be much appreciated. (side note- I've been watering with foxfarms liquid nutrients every other watering)photo-34.jpgphoto-33.jpgphoto-32.jpgphoto-31.jpgphoto-30.jpg

The bigger clone id feel safe giving a light solution of nutes but not the small ones, later ull also have to sex that seed, once it gets about 6 in to 1ft tall.

How do I sex the seed? This is the first time I've ever grown anything besides clones... Thanks for your response

The way to sex your seed is once its grown to about 6in to a foot, then leave it in the sun for less that 12 hrs ,if dawn is at 6, put the plant in the light till 6pm and then put it in a completely dark place, 12 hours of light, 12 hours of dark. After about 7 to 15 days your plant should start producing pre flowers, males will look like small seed pods in the corners of your branches, if its a female it will produce single white hairs, Its something u have to see to truly understand, but a good rule of thumb for your crop, if it looks like nuts clip it:bigjoint:

Thanks Spartans.

Here's some new pics. The larger one is the JV-clone, the smaller is the random bag seed I found. The JV clone was transplanted 6 weeks ago and the seed was planted roughly 4 weeks ago. The clone is 23" and then seed is 8".

11 Weeks- New Pictures

The bushier plant, w/ more growth is a JV-86 clone. The other plant that is a random bag seed that I've already sexed and is continuing to Veg.

I've been following the feeding schedule for FoxFarms nutrients. I'm using Big Bloom, Grow Big, and Tiger Bloom.

There's been a few caterpillars I've found on the JV-86 clone, but other than that, it seems very healthy. There's lots of pre-flowers forming.

The taller plant, which isn't nearly as dense, has been growing pretty quickly. It's 2 weeks younger than the clone. For some reason, the leaves feel pretty rough, almost textured-like. Any reason for this?

The Clone is roughly 3.5' tall, whereas the Seed is nearly 4 feet. (No idea what the genetics are...)

The bud spots are everywhere! Every 1/2-3/4" there's a pre-flower. Can I expect this plant to grow much more? Either bushier or taller? I know it's a moot point but I thought I'd ask the RIU nation!

Happy Thursday

Please Help!

So my JV86 clone is looking really good... tons of bud sites, and a great smell. Unfortunately, some of the leaves at the bottom are yellowing... I think it's likely a Calcium deficiency from what I've gathered on here, but I just wanted to see if someone sees something I'm missing. The plant seems to have stopped growing as flowering has officially started. Is this normal? Still new to this so I'm learning everyday!

yellowing on the bottom normally means a nitrogen def. but i would need a closer shot. If i were you i would transplant that into a bigger pot. imo

Troy- Thanks for the feedback. Can I supplement the deficiency w/ one of my 3 foxfarms nutrients? (Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom, Grow Big)

Week 12 Update- HELP PLEASE!

The JV86 clone seems to be growing a little bit each day, but not much. All the fan leaves seem to be dying off. I've pulled a lot of them so far but am concerned about pulling too many. I don't quite know what the problem is... She's been getting the reccomended doseage of the nutrients from foxfarms, and critters/insects have not been an issue.

The random seed is doing really well. Still is in veg and is nearing 5 feet. Pretty bushy, too. (Pictured Below)

Any clues about the clone would be much appreciated! The buds are starting to form nicely, but I don't want to lose all my leaves!

The JV-86 clone is closing in on a week til harvest! I've been checking daily for insect damage and it seems very limited. Bud growth looks good but I'm hoping I see a swell in the next week. The trichomes are a mixture of milky white and clear w/ just a few ambers. I've been flushing her for the past 4-5 days so I can get all the nutrients (organic) out of it's root system.

I'm just about to start week 7. From what I've found online, JV86 is a 8-9 week strain. Am I getting too anxious?? I have some trichome pics and decent macro bud shots, so let me know what you think. I think I still have a week or two before its gotta go.

I apologize for the shoddy image orientation, currently working on a 10-year old computer.
