ok so i have posted in other areas about my grow and i would like to start a journal. here it goes:

i received 45 seeds from a friend. here in florida there is strain called "CRIPPI" its actually just a sativia plant. there are 4 strians in the bag and i have no idea whats what. so germination begins with 3 brownish looking seeds. i used the paper towel method.

day 1: seeds crack and it imdediately goes into a pot with vigoro organic potting soil and set outside to take in the sun.

day 2: begin to construct my indoor grow box. i purchased multiple sheets of MDF and 2x2's at homedepot. i had one employee cut me 4 4x2 sheets, 2 2x2 sheets. also had him cut my 2 piece of 2x2 (which was 8 ft in length) to 2ft sections. i also pruchased two honeywell 9" fans for exhasut and intake. Last purchase was some deck screws 1 1/2" and i was on my way. that same day i constucted the box and it looked like this.
IMG_0855.jpgIMG_0873.jpg
i cut two holes one on top for exhaust and one on the side for intake with a jigsaw. i also caulked all joints and ends to be sure they were all air tight. i let that dry and wen to bed it was 1am lol.

day 3
:
today i went to homedepot and crabbed 4 CFL 23 watt (100w equiv) and alsoc grabbed 4 clamp reflectors to attach the bulbs too. on the way home i stopped a grocery store and grabbed some tinfoil (didnt know it was bad, i am noob lol) and headed home. first finished product was this:
IMG_0868.jpgoh i installed a 2ft section of 2x2 up top to clamp the reflective fixtures to.

i did some reading realized CFLs must be close to the plants in order for them to work! :cuss:

okay so after i left it for the a few hrs i thought of just intsalling another 2ft section of 2x2 on the bottom didnt have anymore. so used a 2ft section of 1" pvc i had laying around. here is how it looked.

day 4
:ok well i thought i was done! i had a nice little seedling above the soil, awesome i can relax now. nope. i kept reading realized that i have no where near the right amount of watts. i thought the equivelant watts were the watts i was using! wrong. okay so i went and bought more cfls 4 more actually of the same ones. i installed them on Y attachments and attachted those to a power strip and secured it to the mdf. so this brings my total watts to 184. i got rid of the pvc and added a 2x2 2ft piece. the clamp fixtures were falling off the pvc.

everything is going well i have a nice little plant so far i was happy i went out and bought a decent thermometer with humity %. that night i kept reading and i realized i still didnt have enough watts and lumens in there to make me happy.
day 5
: so today i happen to find a hrydo shop i got so lucky. went in there and he had some big cfls so i picked up a FELIZ 125watter and a SUN SYSTEM hood reflector all for $83
IMG_0884.jpgView attachment 2293786IMG_0880.jpg

so i am happy so far. nice bright lights and 305 total watts for two plants. temps are at 80 constant and humidity at 40%.i have a cup of cold water and ice to try and bring the humidity up. i have both fans at its max setting. now its time to focus on watering and waiting a month or so to start feeding it nutes. i also have no idea how i am going to filter the exhaust once it starts to smell. the fan is 9" so i might have to just make one from scratch. any ideas would be appreciated.

i also swapped out two 23 watt 5000k with two 40 watt 2700 for a wider spectrum. now have 348watts total. tomorrow will be one week since the seeds cracked.

or if you cannot get a hold of some mylar, just paint the inside white.
btw, make sure you have drainage holes in your pots :)

Day 7: it has been one week since the seeds sprouted and i think they are doing rather well. i move both plants into 2 gallon pots with new soil. one of my babies exploded and grew a lot in like 12 hrs the other is growing a tad slower, (its the one that was in the clay pot)

here is the one growing fastIMG_0889.jpg here is the one growing slowerIMG_0890.jpgall though i think its because of the clay pot it was in. the clay pot was soaking up a lot of the water i was using so i think it wasnt getting as much water as the other one that was in the small orange container.

i am going on vacation friday morning for 7 days. i am having my brother inlaw water them and make sure everything is ok. how often should he come to water? i have been watering every two days and i think its been ok, but i think i can go 3 days what ya think?

i know cfls are suppose to be about one inch away from the plant but i put a thermometer where the plant is and it was reading 98degrees f. is ok for it to be that hot? my box temp is 83 right now.

98 degrees is way too hot man back up the lights a bit maybe add another fan or two if u can, also don't use that foil man go to your local hydro store they should have some poly film its what i use and it reflects light pretty good.

i know i know i need take it out. i solved the isse with the heat though. i just moved them back a tad messed with my fans and everything is 80f right at the plants and 79 at the bottom of the box and 41% hum. i cant take it down because i am going on vacation starting tomorrow so when i come back next saturday i will take it down and either paint it white or grab some mylar. whats better mylar or some flat matte white paint?

hey guys!

i have been on vacation for a week and my brother in law has been watching my babies. one is doing unreal and the other not so much. it has been just over 2 weeks now.
IMG_0906.jpgshe is doing great
IMG_0907.jpgthis onie is having some trouble. its growing but really slowly and 1 bottom leaf has turned yellow and brown. i think it might be over watering, so it hasnt been watered for 5 days and the soil was bone dry today. i topped her up with some water and it will be on a strict watering schedual.

i know its hard to determine the cause but any ideas as to what it can be? is 3 weeks to early to add some nitro nutes to try and bring her back?

Plants don't water on a schedule. Plants need to be watered when they need it not when you want to do it. Don't feed it right you end up with a hand full of shit. Be good to it feed it like you would yourself, when you are hungry or thirsty, and it will reward you with good buds. The watering requirements of a plant will continually change as it grows. Watering schedules cause stress because they are a primary source of both over watering and under watering.

i decided to feed the runt plant with 12-5-4. i planted two more seeds in the mean time so if it dies i have two back ups. i was going to pull it but i decided to just try and add some nutes too it. it will probably kill it. i added very little, we will see what happens.
