Is this true? (Post sex re-growth)

Hey there, I have a question for all you experienced growers out there.

A friend of mine is growing a few seeds for me until they are old enough to sex and provide a female to grow.
Heres where my question comes in, if he grows the plant until is shows its pre flowers, how will I be able to weave it into my SCROG style grow box?

Beres what he told me: It is possible to veg a plant until it shows preflowers, then once you have a female you can just cut it above the first node and THE ENTIRE PLANT WILL REGROW, aswell as being topped.

Is this possible?

This is partly why I switched to fem seeds (or grow mother and take clones), but, by the time it shows sex it's not done growing yet. Differs per strain, sativas usually stretch more during the grow spurt during the first 2-3 weeks 12/12. Google for 'male vs female cannabis' for many example images on how to spot the sex as soon as possible.

That said, I use that last grow spurt to create some length/depth in the canopy.

If you switch back the light to for example 24hrs on again, it would get back in veg mode yes. But what a waste of time.
