Is a light a light?

I'm looking at my options for 250w HPS lights and I'm running into conflicting posts.

My questions; Is one maker of hps lights better than the next?

Is there a brand I should be hunting for?

.

Hotilux is a good HPS bulb manufacturer.

Sun systems make good ballests.

Adjust a wing makes a good reflector.

we taking bulbs or hoods / ballasts?
the answer to both is yes.

I prefer a babe brand like eye hortilux or similar vs a no name brand.. look on a grow site to see what brands they carry speficicly for growing cannabis

Bulbs

I have a gullwing reflector and a sunsystem aircooled se hood already and both use external ballasts that I already have.

I've been peeking at eye hortilix and other various HPS bulbs and the tech seems to be similar for all of them.

Is it personal preference for brand or do name brands actually do better than no name stuff?

How big is your room? 3x3 and maybe the 250 would be enough. I find it very hard to get good buds out of 400 watt hps or mh. When I use 600 or 1000 watts the buds are more bad ass. I do finish with 400 hps though. good luck.

Why are you not persuaded by LED's yet? :p
They don't have the penetration that HID has, the cost is prohibitive and if something breaks on a HID system, it's modular and I can replace a single part rather than the whole system.

My tent is a 2'*4'*5'

I'm running 2x 250w MH right now and I'm getting ready (well ahead of time) for the flower phase.

If I was you, I would sleep in the tent and grow in my bedroom :p

When my mom passes on, I'll be converting her room into the indoor greenhouse (with renovations to handle the moisture and air flow), I'm building an addition for my new bedroom and expanding the kitchen, bathroom and hallway.

Hopefully that won't be for a hot minute but at this stage, anything can happen at any time.

For now, my tent is what I have to use.

I have only used the super hps, I can say the spectrum looks better then the “included” bulbs.
