I have been seeking help from my MP (senior cabinet minister) regarding my renewal application and the fact that Health Canada dates the new permit from the time that the Doctor signs the renewal application and not from the date of expiry of the original permit. After six months of back and forth with my member, I received this response today :
"The (Health) Department recognizes that delays in processing applications can impact the validity period of a registration certificate, and is actively looking at ways, within the regulatory framework, to speed the process. In the interim, where there has been a significant delay in processing an application, Health Canada can contact the your health care practitioner and obtain permission to register you for the full period of time intended as of the date of registration."
This a somewhat of a win. However I have repeatedly made the point that I do not want to ask my GP to have to deal with Health Canada anymore than she does. I consider it a waste of her time. She does not charge me anything for filling out the paperwork. And there are 107,000 people in Nova Scotia without a GP.....
Is this news to everybody else ?
