I have an older friend that grew a beautiful female plant only using black dirt or just regular soil and the plant made the entire house smelling like skunk even when you left there house your clothes smelled like it to. the buds were so sticky you almost couldn't pull your fingers apart. They only used a 1000 watt light and again just dirt no added nutrients or anything. Just gave it some water. The trees were bomb smoke! So I'm wondering if I could do the same and have as good results as he did? Told me to do the same. What do you guys think about the idea and or has anyone tried this before and if so how was the turn out? Thanks can't wait to hear about peoples opinions! Respect #1!

If it's that good, you should just ask him if he can spare a bucket for you.;-)
If he told you to do the same thing, I'm kinda surprised he didn't offer you some soil.

You could use the same exact soil as him and that wouldnt make a difference. Its all in the experience and know how. He could use the shittiest soil and come out with some dank while the same time using top of the line and come out with poop. It also depends on the strain. But most importantly its how you treat her. If you do it right it wont matter what soil you used. To a point at least. But for the most part treat the plant right and shell reward you.

you can grow without soil (hydro-aero)... you can grow with soil... it all depends on how well you take care of the plant.. how well the soil is.. I never knew what a PITA growing my own MMJ was till 2 years ago.. it is work.. plain and simple..

yeah this is a pointless thread. who gives a shit what the medium is as long as you have all the correct nutrients. All you have to doo is get a good brand of potting medium and go from there. And the poll makes no sense both options are questions.? If you have the correct soil structure the correct biological activity along with correct nutrients you can grow in it. You make simple addition into insane rocket science.

just to name a few FoxFarms ocean, Miracle Grow any potting, or make your own. Perlite, some fine mulch, worm castings, some organic peat, some manure be that chicken or cow, and you have a great start. Its that simple. Hell go in your back yard dig a hole take that dirt and add amendments like the ones listed above put it in a clear garbage bag and let the sun sterilize itt with its UV rays. All the bugs will suffocate as well.
