I just cut my first crop 3 days ago. It had 30 good size buds all over it and plenty of trichomes. I know it should of been flowering for longer, but I ran out of time and for miscellaneous reasons I had to get rid of the plant now.
It was in 30 days veg and 65 days flower using 11 26w CFL's.

The buds have now been hanging upside down in a cool closet with plenty of air movement for 3 days. They stink like wet hay unless you open them up a little the inside of the buds smell pretty good. Im hoping after a few more days drying and a few weeks curing they will start to smell good.

The buds look like crap to me. They are all spongy and you can see right through to the other end on most of them. They don't look too heavy to me at all.

Getting a little impatient I decided to pinch a nug off and roll me a blunt to see how it was even though I knew the smoke would be harsh. The problem is I'M NOT GETTING HIGH!

I smoked a good sized blunt and I feel like I've been breathing in air from a brush fire for about an hour but that's it. No high at all.

Does drying and curing the buds increase potency or just decrease the harshness? Shouldn't I be getting a high from these buds even though they are not dry?

The first photo with all of the buds is from 3 days ago and the other two are what the buds look like now.

Are they messed up or do I need to just let them dry and cure longer????? I hope all my hard work wasn't for nothing!

P.S.-

I don't notice even one seed in any of the buds, so I don't know if that means anything. To me that usually means its some potent shit!

quick and easy answer: the buds must dry thoroughly before the thc becomes psycho-active. dry it until its crispy, then try it again.

Yeah I would think that even though it was not cured or all the way dry I would still get some sort of a high. I guess I'll wait it out until they are totally dried and cured then try again.

Do the buds in the picture look ok? They don't look abnormal or anything do they?

What do the trics look like? Are they clear, milky or amber? You could have harvested too early which could decreased the potency. I would cure them longer and keep my fingers crossed.

The strain looks like hindu Kush from the pics. Very pretty orange hairs etc. and hindu kush has a good smell in the middle but always smells a little like hay on the outside.

I chop little nugs here and there from the 6th week of flowering on. I usually take like a bowl sized nug and stick it in a dark drawer overnight and it is dry in the morning. I've never had one that didn't get me high except when I tried to dry some nugs in the microwave. So I don't think it's the curing/drying that is the issue.

Were you already high when you smoked it? If that is the case maybe it did get you high but you were too high to tell.

Maybe it is like an opposite placebo effect, you were so paranoid that you did something wrong that you convinced yourself mentally that it didn't get you high.

cfls can make bud become fluffy,,the reason why you aint satisfied with the smoke and smell is coz the bud aint dry properly,,,hang until the outside of the buds crispy dry then put in a airtight jar or bag, thatll even the moisture out in the bud and the bud will then start to dry evenly,,make sure you air out the jar or bag regulary, and keep in a cool dark place, when its cured properly it should smell and taste like good stuff and when you sprinkle it on a rizla or whateva it should crumble um nicely and fluff up,it shouldnt crumble up into dust,or smell like hay,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,peace

Thanks for the help guys. I know I harvested a bit early but there were a lot of trichs on the plant when I cut her down. She was a little over 4ft tall when I cut her down.

Here is a pic of the beast a few weeks into flowering- about a month before I chopped her.

I took just a few of the smallest buds and put them in a glass jar this morning. I hope they start to sweeten up.
