Just remember that with a small sample group (2 plants) and being from seed (not identical clones) one plant could be runty and not caused by the growing method.Just comparing dirt to hydro. Both in identical 2x4 tents, both with spider farmer sf2000 lights. My last (and first) grow turned out ok, but question if I might have missed the mark with my nutriants.
Thank you, I am very new to growing and welcome any advice or suggestions. My first grow was 2 different strains in separate tents and I yielded a little over 8oz each. It seems to be pretty good quality, but I was hoping for larger colas. They were both in waterfarms and I struggled a little with nutrients a couple of times during the experience. I'm wondering if dirt will be a little more forgiving.Just remember that with a small sample group (2 plants) and being from seed (not identical clones) one plant could be runty and not caused by the growing method.
Well for starters, don't call it dirt. There are some folks that will get their panties in a wad if you don't call it soil. lolI'm wondering if dirt will be a little more forgiving.
Yup ren is right, this is a no no lol lets just call it soil and keep the thread positive, and while you are looking into soil check out dry organic amendments, and supersoil. Promix bx is a nice light media and cut 1:1 with fox farm ocean forrest is a nice rich start that wont be too hot for the little ladies. Also the soil is more forgiving, trick is waterring and timing. if you do like the soil approach definitely look into feeding with organics and the wonders of supersoil to really start to get your hands dirty, then check out benificial microbial teas as well. 3 good places to start is Roots Organic Uprising or Terptea- organic nutrients, Natures Living soil- supersoil, and Redfrog premium bloom blend tea- microbial tea but alternatively if you dont own a tea brewer go to Gardenersbud.com and look at the premade teas they brew and sell, also another very good microbial tea product.I'm wondering if dirt will be a little more forgiving.
i agree. dirt is dust. dirt is inert. dirt is dead....BUT soil is complex, alive and full of food. For the record , i could care less what you call it but i do like to think there is a difference. My soils professor said "Dirt is what you sweep out of your house. Soil is a complex mixture that deserves your respect"
He also said if anyone called soil "dirt" he would fail them. One person refused to call it soil and was promptly failed and removed from the class.
