HPS limited height HELP

Hey there everyone, just a quick question, I am just looking into lighting options for my grow box. I am very limited for height, I am working with about 4 feet, with the Aeroponic system taking up at least 1.5 feet. So 2.5 feet of growing space. so I decided to go with a SCROG.

But the question I was wondering is can I use a 250w (400w preferably) HPS light in a air cool tube reflector connected to a S&P 6" Inline Fan.

Will this fan lower the temp enough to keep the light less than a foot away from the tops of the plants.

If not than I have to resort to LEDs or CFLs so please help

Thank you

i disagree. with proper CFM fan for ventilation, you would be alright. think 250+ for a 400watter

it really depends on how hot your room gets already...depends on your locale as well as the seasons...during these coming winter months you will probably be okay as long as you run the proper intake and exhaust setup...make sure to vent that cool tube outside...and if youve got an intake coming in from outside make sure it's down low, filtered, and make sure youre not bringing in more air than your exhaust can pull out.. You should be fine but like i said it depends on the time of year and where you live...

dont even dream of doing it in the summer without proper ventilation though.

Ya well where I am its gettin cold quick, with highs of 10 ~ 15 degrees Celsius (60 F), so I think I will be alright. I am going to give it a shot, Ive seen some grow journals where the light is kept only 5 inches away from the tops of the plant in the later stages of flowering, for most of my grow the tops of the plant will be like a foot away, its just the late flowering stage when they get above the scrog netting. As long I vent properly I think I will be alright.

Thank you very much for your inputs
