How often do you calmag?

Last grow i didn't use any calmag at all and I didn't see any calcium or mag deficiencies, i water with tap water if that helps. I was thinking about getting some calmag because i hear its such an important part, is it always necessary? and if so how often? Also, what would be a good brand of calmag? i prefer dry nutes, i use maxigrow and maxibloom from general hydroponics

If you're using tap, you are probably fine as it probably has plenty of both. It is not a bad idea to have a small amount of calmag on hand in case of deficiencies. I don't know of any dry calmag other than just using epsom salts, which is magnesium sulfate. I have used Botanicare or General Hydroponics calmag with good results.

I guess I didn't answer the question. I calmag when I need it. The Maxi series plus your tap water is probably sufficient.

In my personal opinion calcium and magnesium might as well be macro nutrients. I run a calmag mixed liquid supplement that also has iron from botanicare right now. I run about 100-150 ppm every time i water. Im on a well and out of the tap its 80 ppm but id still run it every time if i was on city water that was at 200 ppm to start. The only times i dont run it are the first two-three weeks the plant is alive, and the last two-three weeks the plant is alive. For the last while i cut out all nitrogen, calcium, and magnesium. I still run low levels of p and k but i force the plant to finish by cutting its food down without totally starving it.

Might as well be? They are macro nutrients, especially calcium. Plants take up more calcium than phosphorous. The micros are Fe, Zn, B, Mn, and Mo.

Cal-mag+ is a ripoff. Get calcium nitrate in solid form.

Nope, never gonna happen. I ain't mixin any more crap. Pour and go. 40 bucks worth lasts me three - four months. Thats 120 a year to not have to mix anything when im in a hurry and see theyre thirsty and i only have five minutes to water everything.

I use 20 ml per 5 gal at every res change, and at 4 weeks for soil. I found that for soil, that's all you really need, but with hydro, you should maintain a little in your feed water at all times. The stuff is simple, has some N in it and goes a long way

I'm an auto grower and autos love to eat cal mag! I feed 5ml cal+mag every feeding at 8oz or 2 feed water cups a day.. When I grow photos I still give them cal mag the same way..

I was feeding CalMag every watering/feeding, but I've noticed a slight N burn on a few plants when it's added to my ff nutes so I cut back to only feeding CalMag when I water and none during feeding time. I use 5ml per gallon of water.

I'm one of those AN users!!! Ive yet to get any nute burn.. I just end up with fat buds.. AN nutes is just tool to get the buds i like..
I did use FF nutes but I didn't care for it to much .. I have friends that do very well on FF ..

In soil at 4 weeks, that's when you really need it as the plant is begins to require more, and the soil will be pretty depleted by then.
You are probably getting the burn from the Calmag as it does have N in it, and you are using a LOT of it. Personally, when I did soil it seemed to work for me adding it at 4 weeks for say 2 feedings ( Fed every 3rd watering) at around the time the bloom starts, and never had a def. The shit is toxic to plants if overused by the way. Good luck

Thanks for the tip, I'll start doing it that way. I hate when I see my ladies sad, droopy or discolored leaves, makes me sad.

I've never had to add a drop of Cal-Mag in any of my previous indoor grows, btw. All thanks to SukonOnMiSkunk.

While I have the thread open, (I hate starting multiples if i dont have to) Could anyone maybe tell me what a brown spot on a leaf might mean? I have 1 strain (1 out of 3) that is getting a couple of brown spots (fairly large "spots") on its older fan leaves. Mind you, these plants are... at most 2 or 3 weeks? Im not sure, i got them as clones 1 week ago. but the 1 strain is getting fair sized brown/rusty spot or two on the older fan leaves. and one of them has it on the edge. but it doesn't look like nutrient burn. any guesses? I'd post a pick but im concerned about the safety of that type of thing.

i use it every feeding and also use tap water...

could be ph . calcium , mag, or phosphate.bugs or root problems
